He, I figured it out playing the Amiga Action demo game over and over and over and over... Took a while though (but hey, I was 9 years old).

But yes, this game could take some time... The Amiga is a fine computer, but it was never good for AI computing stuff. Battle Chess and Othello Killer could be equally time consuming deals. Here is an average session of Othello Killer for me:

"Patience, I am thinking."
*happy music plays for 2 minutes*
*computer makes a move and instantly wins*
"I win. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!"

I those 2 minutes of course you had ample time to figure out you were going to lose big time and you had to wait for the final blow...

Can someone suggest a BattleIsle editor that is at least able to load original maps where I can change values of hq, depot, factory? I found bied.lha and bime12.lha on aminet and had a first short look without success (on A1200 040). Maybe there is another or better (newer) editor available?

I would need lha or zip archive because my system has not enough Ram (32MB) for extracting.

Thanks for the zip archive. I could get it working (at least for normal maps). I tried to load "Moon of Chromos" maps that seems to be the data diks 2? but without success. I changed BFC config data disk option and choosed "wandeln" (transubstantiates) what loads a mess map or BFC crashed. Do I something wrong or is "Moon of Chromos" not supported?

maybe the maps must be decompressed, e.g. game needs to be installed unpacked?

Unfortunately depacking the map date doesn`t help and I`ve no documentation of BFC. Maybe it support only normal maps? However, I descried that I can change building values by hex-editing .SHP files what was my intention.

Thanks for uploading again. Of course I`ve a problem with it. There are two files (BFC.pck and HLE.pck) in archive (cracker stuff is always "funny") that I can`t unpack. The unpack tool (delivered with the archive) crash my system. xadunfile crash and xfddecrunch says file isn`t crunched. Other deruncher I tried don`t recognize the files. The header of file show:

Code:
00000000: 4354504B 00069FAC 0000A4F7 00030022 CTPK.......÷..."
...but I don`t know "CTPK". Any hints how I can unpack?

I don't think that by the rule a header indicates that something is packed. It might be aswell just a header of a file format (eg. IFF files have FORM in the header).

How did you use the unpacker? I just tried it and it works fine if you use the correct parameters, it's a very simple unpacker anyway. Syntax is "Unpack packed_file depacked_file". If you f.e. don't specify the name for the depacked file, the unpacker will crash.

In this case it is rather obvious that the file is packed if you just look at the header (that you can see in daxb's post). ID followed by 2 longs (which most probably are unpacked length and packed length) are a dead giveaway.

@StingRay:
Thanks for your reply. That solved my problem. Seems I used wrong syntax.

Should have been a 4 player version of battle isle, would have been like Advance Wars, would be nice to play team battles.

River is the last one of original. If finished you can start Desert Scenario (25 one player; 32 levels overall) and Moon of Chromos (26 one player; 33 levels overall).

Edit: Wrong numbers fixed.

Hi all!

Sorry to revive this thread but, talking about Battle Isle, have you ever noticed units disappearing? Specifically, after a battle, my unit that won the combat would just disappear from the game!

Weird!
