Yeah, mine too - don't remember any other non-offtopic threads in which I've had SOOOOOO much fun!

So where is everybody? Hiding behind scanlines, maybe?

Scanlines definitively !!!
Without scanlines, gfx looks like VGA crap....

Well the lack of scanlines actually make pixels biggers !
It is one the major reasons why I HATED PC back in the days.

In MAME for arcade emulation I prefer scanlines 50%, but to play Amiga games with Winfellow I can not put the scanlines because I lose my resolution if I put scanlines. My default resolution is 800 by 600 pixels but they go out with scanlines, they trasnform to 320 by 240!!!

Thanks to Toni, if you use WinUAE you can set variations on the scanline level:

Quote:
WinUAE 1.4.2
- "PAL" TV-like filter, with brightness, contrast, gamma, scanline level, blur and noise adjustment.

A toss up for me. Scanlines are for nostalgia and in my opinion, make Amiga graphics look more defined and less blocky. No Scanlines give you more clarity a much more consistent look but make things look a little blocky. \

But i know i never had any complaints when i was using my Philips monitor .. loved the damn thing until it blew up.

I don't know, maybe thats just my stupid brain making those observations that aren't really there ?.. but thats how i see it.

I assume you had a 14"/15" monitor, right? Try it on modern 19" PC monitors and the games looks awfully blocky without scanlines (WinUAE). I had a Microvitec 15" multisync monitor ten years ago, the image was clear and shows only a touch of blocky pixels.
