This DamienD's scanline 'thing' must be from newer date as none of his many screenshots posted on Mame thread had scanlines.

MAME thread

Man, you're in the wrong group!

No way, I'm definitely in the right group

As mentioned previously, I use scanlines on EVERY single emulator that I use (if available). Some have varying degrees of scanlines though

MAME32... Been using it since '98 and always used this option, not sure why I posted images without it

I prefer scanlines for ECS/AGA lowres games but I donīt like the WinUAE scanlines. Theyīre not like the original ones and the picture is too dark.

Yes, viddi. Toni could build in a brightness slider, but he don't care about. Several emus looks very nice with 25 % Scanlines.

I believe itīs not a big deal to include this brightness slider, isnīt it?

So, I hope itīll come soon.

Thanks in advance, Toni

It's simple: Because images without scanlines look much better.

We're not going to tell them that you're spy! Don't worry!

ROFL

Ok, I'll tell you the "real" reason why I don't post screenshots in the MAME thread with scanlines...

Since MAME v.90 (or something) they changed the way scanlines look, which I don't like... Here's an example of how they look now:

Ask Retro, we have been banging on about this ever since they changed the "format" and I've even been trying to recreated the old school ones since unsuccessfully (as they are just a .png file overlayed)...

Anyway, I like the classic scanlines effect that MAME used to use, though the absolute best scanlines effect can be seen in Gens32, Magic Engine and SNESx9 (TV effect) where there are varying degrees that don't darken out "every other" line

I think he's using MAME32. They work fine with regular MAME and Emuloader.

You use MAME + FrontEnd don't you?

...just like Retro-Nerd who uses MAME32Plus and still has "classic" scanlines

Maybe it's time for me to change from MAME32, it's given me so many faithful years though

Very, very nice Ultron.. Probably as close as you will ever get to an arcade monitor

Now, if only we could convince Toni to implement this feature
