Contact Amiga Inc. and get some deals done ? Not too easy, if not impossible.

They tested random programs that people brought on 03/31/07 on the Clone-A and only one crashed, apparently due to disc read error?
OMFG!
I want that thing!
And yes, I won't mind if it's in a joystick. And I am pretty sure the C64-DTV sold very very well, at least way beyond expectations. I think that was even mentioned on retrogamingradio...
and that's AFAIK the only reason why they even bothered making a Pal version of that stick.
And, imagine... the amiga DTV would sell much better, if done right, if not only due to the superior hardware...

The C64 emulation scene is a lot more vibrant and popular than the Amiga. One of the benefits of not being mauled by greedy companies and useful zealots. Software and demos are regularly still produced for C64's, not even close to the situation the A500 is in.

Hello,

I think it's impossible to sell the Clone A around 200 Euros : nobody will buy it at this price

If the system could offer more value than a real Amiga then I would buy one, I mean things like have more ram and a faster CPU as standard could that be done for around £100-£150, I would say thats comparable to a 030 A1200 setup with bits and bobs.

They would be mad to do anything other than an A500 Joystick to start with... get the cash to pay for any development they like.

I think that Jen's is trying to get the design turned into an ASIC (custom microchip) rather than FPGA. Just like the C64DTV.

Then the chips will cost $1-2 instead of $20

I am curious about the NatAmi, his base platform is Jen's C1 motherboard which was designed for a Super C64. It is very small in capacity, even compared to a MiniMig.

All I know is we were discussing something else (A600 accelerator) and he asked me about ASIC prices with the company I work for.

It may be nothing, may be everything.

Alexh you git.. now you are teasing us!! This is great news (if true) about Clone-A but now there is a hint of more news on the A600 accelerator.

Jeez, Jens makes some good kit but his PR is not worth anything... he just pops up with news about once every 6 months or more!

It is not commercially viable yet. However some of the project was included in the Indivision ECS.

Interesting. I assume thats mean that it's technically feasible to do the whole lot in hardware, but the hardware to do it would be too expensive... How far are the prototypes or POCs?

Correct. With ECS Amiga's selling for £10 how could anyone justify selling one for £150+?

AFAIK the developers have been using a C-One + Expansion FPGA.

True, but one way to justify it is to include expansions that are cheap on modern hardware, but expensive on ECS Amigas: Compact Flash interface, 8 megs of fast ram, flicker fixer, and so on.

But yeah, it'd probably be tough to make a profit (or breaking even for that matter).

I wouldn't have imagined anyone would buy one, but I did not think anyone would buy the MiniMig v1.1 or Indivision ECS given their prices and yet they were sell outs.

Very expensive, although the Indivision _is_ useful, the minimig and the clone-a not so...
