What a feat!
Hail!

What I would really really like to see is complete scans of the Power Play "Die hundert besten Spiele" yearly specials. These issues were true bibles!

An example of one of is found on www.kultpower.de -> PowerPlay, year 1989:
http://www.kultpower.de/showzeitschr...xt=yes&gfx=yes

They only have the covers up though.

Each one contained reviews of the hundred best games of that year. They also contained a table in the back of all the games they ever reviewed up to that point with scores. Those were great to flip through and just see the "best of the best" of that year.

And these issues are all in German, of course

Thank you for all your hard work and look forward to enjoying this site well into the future.

Thumbs up Thanks for your comments so far!

Thanks for the comments guys. In relation to a random bunch of questions:

The black and white scans are a deliberate ploy to encourage anyone with the magazine to send us a full size colour scan.

Galaxy and myself have been the main scanners so far (actually Galaxy is by miles!), and we have no German mags so scans of Amiga Joker are unlikely for the time being. Ditto with American magazines. We don't have them, and unless others contribute they are unlikely to be added.

Oh yes, a huge thanks to Mort for his scanning aswell!

Thank Galaxy for that, his scans are consistently high quality and straight! A lot of time was spent to rotate and crop the scans. He's a genius!

As for the filter, there is an advanced search but it's not quite ready. It will be online soon though!

There are many interesting articles scanned, not just reviews. For example, there is a great article from Andrew Braybrook on how effects like the Stardust tunnel was done (check the "did you know" panel on the top right): http://amr.abime.net/search.php?tri_id=19

We started scanning just reviews but lately have been scanning most editorial content. Most Amiga Powers have all the editorial stuff scanned, and we have more than 50 issues online which makes it the largest Amiga Power resource on the internet by a long way!

Unless someone scans those for us, we can't put them online as we don't have any of those issues. If there are tables of top 100 games like the Amiga Power top 100 lists we would happily add another page like the AP one. However someone would have to supply us the information.

Ideally I would like people to look through their magazines and help us fill the gaps. If everyone helped out a little we could really get an amazing resource online pretty quickly! We have scans of quite a few magazines but indexing all the information from scans is a lot slower than people that own the magazines.

If anyone has any other ideas for the site, please list them aswell! Some ideas:

- Features/articles indexed so they are searchable (eg. "all interviews with the bitmaps" type stuff)
- A links page
- An advanced search, with filters to only show Amiga games, or only cheats, or previews for unreleased games etc.
- Perhaps some kind of polls like vote for favourite magazine etc

Thanks for the nice comments everyone - it's been hard to not say too much knowing the site was just around the corner!

Please don't leech the site though, as rck's bandwidth is precious!

The initial focus is on games due to the close ties with HOL, but we'll expand this out eventually.

If you're after serious stuff there is curreny 1 complete issue of AC's Tech online (http://amr.abime.net/search.php?iss_id=1710) which includes articles such as "build your own SCSI interface" and "programming in amiga in assembly". Complete scans of Vols 2,3 and 4 have been done, but are yet to be processed and uploaded. Also, the issues 3-14 of Amiga Active are online, and again I have full scans of most issues, I just haven't had the time to finish processing them.

If you are interested in contributing scans make sure you check with us (prob me) first as I still have thousands of scans which aren't yet online.

I have a request:

Can someone who owns the May 1990 issue of CU Amiga please scan the cover for us - it's horrible just missing one cover from the run.

could you please scan at 200 or 300 dpi (please let us know which res) so we can accurately resize.

Credit where credit's due - any of the decent AJ scans (and also scans from Amiga Games - Disk and Mag) will be Duke's.

Tim Janssen is also responsible for quite a lot of scans (mainly from the German Amiga Magazine).

Game review scans from about 20 issues of Amiga World + other random American mags (notably Amiga Resource, Antic's Amiga Plus and AmigoTimes) are coming soon. If we have a decent coverscan online chances are we've scanned the game reviews from the issue.

Also, on the American front are vols 2-4 of AC's Tech which have also been scanned.

If there is anyone with lots of issues of Amazing Computing for the Commodore Amiga we'd certainly be interested in hearing from you!

Absolutely great project, great excution. I hope that I can contribute to the future of this project (rather than just say I will contribute and then sit on my arse for 3 years like I have done... well for the last 3 years!)
