Didn't really know Paul, but it's clear he was one of the best. More and more nowadays it seems that the best people are the ones to leave first. Goodbye man.

Do you guys know of anyone from Retrogamer? Wasn't there someone registered here. (I can't remember if it was Strider topic or something simillar)

It would be nice if they can have a small mention on our loss, as we are part of retro community and that's what Retrogamer magazine is for. (IMHO)

Sure, why not... The worst that can happen is that he says no

A better idea may be to visit the mag's website: www.retrogamer.net and e-mail the editor.

Paul's death is sad news, indeed I didn't have a great deal to do with him, but I had a healthy respect for the way he conducted himself as a mod. He was always ready to help and managed the negative aspects of his role with great aplomb. The EAB community will be all the poorer for his passing, as will his family and friends. RIP Paul.

sorry if i speak out of my place, but it's all the week i'm thinking about this.
5 years that i'm here and exchange the casual talk with many guys, most of them nice and sympathetic. Also the odd embittered talk about real life.
one in particular i remember, recently. I think Paul too in that occurrence offered a good exhortation to the guy that in the case was talking about his own problem.
and in this 5 years, not once i heard him speak ill, get in a silly fight or whatever. quite the opposite! and not once, here or in other boards that we both frequented, have ever lamented his own condition. I'm not sayin that that was expected, but if i just look at me i can see me not so equanimous and serene even with not half his hardship.
i'm not pretending i know him more than i do, i'm sorry i didn't.
the guy had brass.

Just came here to see what you'd all make of the BBC Article about Commodore and thought what the hell has happened, when I saw the Green Alien at the top, imagining RCK had handed over the site to him or something.....

Of course, it didn't take me long to see the significance

I ain't really part of the scene anymore, and this account was never really used (my old Jim one was). I remember having chats with Paul, reading and contributing to his great guides - and even following some of them, and giving him some design advice for a church site he wanted to do, based on my failed Superfrog Fansite (remember that flamewar with the Superfrog guy! ).

Remembered my password and logged in cause I wanted to give my condolences to his mum at this difficult time and to all you lot on here who're gonna feel/see his loss a lot more than me as I'm hardly active here.

Unhappy

I felt really numb when I saw the title of this thread. What a total shock. Its quite unbelievable that someone can die so young. He was one of the most friendly and approachable members of this board and has done more for EAB than most. What was great was that he was a proper Amiga fan and really enjoyed contributing to the site and helping others who were in need of assistance. He will be sorely missed by a lot of people, including me. You only have to read the sheer number of responses to this thread for the proof of that. What a great guy.

My deepest condolences to his family.

Rest in peace mate.

I've been away for a while and I only just found out right now, what a shock.
I hope Paul's family is coping as well as they can and even though I didn't really know him very well I send you my best wishes for the future. Stay strong.

We, the german AmigaEmuBoard.net, heard of Paul - the green Amiga Alien. Though few of us have ever posted in the EAB (but some used workarounds and manuals by paul so he was known to us), the thread came around and moved us. So here are our condolences for our brother in mind and amiga-mastermind Paul. We want to express our sympathy to Pauls family and friends and to the whole English Amiga Board - and the onliving, worldwide amiga-scene.

We thought as a tribute to Paul this tune of Mr. Chris Huelsbeck - THE amiga-musician - would fit the best and says more than thousand words.

With kind regards
Brasto and Rotbartpirat from and for AEB
