Having said that though, you’ve seen Midway’s announcement. The network platform is open to everybody, so there are other routes of releasing that content on network platform, and I’m sure that it’s going to come. We have been in some talks about rereleasing some of our old Turrican titles for the platform, but nothing’s been finished yet. I’d love to do it.
Good news I'm sure, although I have never been that impressed with the Turrican games.

Does re-releasing mean Virtual Console style? (exactly the same games playable on a new system), or are they going to do a pathetic job like Rainbow Islands Evolution and New Zealand Story Evolution and 'update' them?

No idea. I think we should expect an updated version though at least graphically.

As long as it's in 3D I think it'll make everyone happy.

I think therein lies the problem. Turrican is simply not the style of game that would translate well into 3D. Its a bit like how when Worms went 3D, and although try as i might, to me it was totally unplayable and annoying as hell!. Alot of PC & Console games do GREAT with 3D, but Turrican will not be one of them.

Everything is 3D now wether it works well or not.. Kinda silly if you ask me.

It should definitely be 3D, maybe some kind of FPS view like Metroid Prime.

It will be 2d (ie flat/fixed camera) rendered in 3d if it's anything.

But 3D is the best now, 2D is old and rubbish.

I prefer 2D Castlevania over the 3D ones. It's easier to make a game good in 2D than in 3D, especially if it's based on a 2D classic.

I do get fed up with all these 3D remakes of 2D games, I agree with blade002 - a lot of games simply don't work when they are translated into 3D. The problem is that most people now think 2D = rubbish games, which isn't necessarily the case. Some types of games work better in 2D than 3D and vice versa. In reality they are completely different genres. A3D Turrican game wouldn't really be Turrican.

Every 3D version of a 2D game I've played has been better by 250%

I abandoned my Amiga because Commodore went bust and eventually there was hardly any software for it, not because of 3D. lol. Yes, i did buy an 030 blizzard back then to play alot of 3D Amiga Games, and yes i was truly very impressed by that new texture mapped ( as it was coined ) vision, especially in the demo scene, but i always felt there was a place for 2D, and to be honest, the best games ive ever played have been 2D, or isometric 2D/3D.

I never ever abandoned the Amiga..... just because the company producing it went bust doesn't suddenly mean they stop working, y'know?

I appreciate that not everyone can afford to keep all their old machines and software, or indeed have the space for it (to be honest I don't really have a lot of room but I couldn't get rid of my old machines), I use them because I enjoy it. It's always interesting to see new stuff but I've never really understood the 'if it's old it's crap' mentality adopted by most magazines and indeed gamers (not on here though obviously). Which is why most publishers would never dare release a purely 2D update to an old game I guess, except maybe on a handheld (though there is the odd exception, eg Metal Slug, but I bet they don't sell well).
