diskswapper. puzzled

I have inserted disk A and disk B thru [bthe regular floppy drives masks[b], then, i've let winuae load their workbench.

I go to the diskswapper panel. I click a couple of times on the first position, under the drive column, because, wrongly, I assumed to load the disks from there.
then i go to the disk panel again, to check it: so far i have not made intentional changes to the disks. df0: is empty. Damn! Why?
I intend to check if the same thing can happen to df1:, as it should, right? Wrong, after clicking the same way and more in the second position of diskswapper panel, disk B is still there in df1:

So let's go with order.
My first perplexity is that i cannot obtain the name of the disks already inside the drives by clicking on the intended position in diskswapper panel because it's not entended to work this way. That's a choice, one i may not agree with, but i understand it.
Instead i have to go thru a scroll down menu (at the bottom of this panel) and insert the name of the disk.
Second perplexity: why should i go to diskswapper panel at all, then, as the scroll down menu is already in TWO panels, the regular one (floppy drives) and the one in the quick configuration mode?

Ok. No matter. I guess the reason for a diskswapper panel is to be there and let me swap files as i want, so far the difficulty is just to find and insert the disks in their original positions, just a minor digression from the fastest path, if you want.

So let check the swapping.
"Disk A" is inserted in the df0:, "Disk B" in df1: from the floppy drives panel.
I go then to diskswapping panel: i have a empty page; I check the first disk, "Disk A" in the scroll down menu, click insert disk, and it gets up there position 1.
Then select position 2 (one left click only) get to the scroll down menu, select "Disk B", press insert disk, and finally... what? another Disk A??? ok something must be wrong i tell myself.
Clicking again here don't solve it, so i get back at the disks panel, fix it manually.
Get in the emulation, press f12, get back at the diskswapper, and then i finally discover that by pressing "insert disk" the gui cycles between the disk names you have used in the session, but ONLY if you have used, in this same session, at least 3 (or more) names, like a Disk C!
However it works. Again, in a strange way, but it works.

Yeah it works at least until, by keeping clicking on the names in the list, to make them swap, you at some point, have two same names in the two different positions again, in wich case the gui don't allows you again the swap them right anymore, and you have to set it manually... i'm lost.
What didn't work in the original diskswapper version???

Anyway, i didn't try this feature since a while before this time. I'm using the last winuae stable version, but i guess it works so from the start of this way of handle the swap.
Do you guys use it? Do i am doing something wrong?

[edited] reformatted and corrected a bit, sorry for my hectic typing.

Also i've noticed that in the floppy drives panel, when you drag and drop 2 different disks, one in the first and one in the second available drives, you have to repeat the operation often, as when the second one is dropped, the first drive gets swapped to that disk too...
It happens usually if you press F12, drag and drop 2 disks maybe by changing the order of the swaps, like first in the 2nd and second in the 1st. It makes more sense if you try it for instance while installing some multiple disks Whdload slave.
The version is the same stable one as in the post above.

Disk swapper works as designed. It is meant for pre-configuring multi disk games (from configuration file), it has nothing to do with floppy disk drive contents. (and as you have noticed, swapping from history list is faster if you don't have pre-configured swapper)

History list issue is a bug.

may this be a WindowsXP problem, or a problem of too long names of the disks?
i would exclude it's a matter of large directories, as i've tested it with so little as a dozen files dir.
