Question PicassoIV Q's: cgx or p96? and where is this PicassoModeTNG prog?

Hiya!

I just installed a picassoIV on my A4000 , and I was wondering if there is any real advantage of using p96 over cgx4 for it... (I am asking because I own cgx4 and because p96 was made for picasso boards...) I tried it with cgx4 it seems really nice...

also where can I find the so called "PicassoModeTNG" program that will allow me to select refresh rates for the integrated sd/ff ??? (am I correct on this?)
thanks for all your help!

a person on .org tells that the paloma will only work with the p96 drivers... so, since I have one, I see no other way... dang!

edit: alexh, does the pIV carries also the paula sound? so if I plug speakers to audio-out connector, will I hear for example, whdload sound? haven't tried it because it is a total mess to wire an extra 3.5" jack for the picasso, right now I use the standar amiga output...
and the pIV sd/ff is simply the best I have seen... and I have used 2 of the 3 24bit videoslot sd/ff out there.... now if I can find a petsoff one I can be sure lol

Your picasso IV should have come with the cable to connect it to the header on the A4000 motherboard to get the Paula Sound

You got any of the issues I talked about with your scandoubler?

no , no issues whatsoever with the sd/ff, it just works...
is this cable like a normal cdrom audio-cable???
all I had in the package are the 2 ribbons for use if u break the videoslot connector, a cdrom audio cable and the manual...
also where exactly do u connect on the A4000 mobo to get the audio? all I know is the cd-rom audio input...

Hmmm, maybe I got this wrong... I'd have to read my manuals and check

[Edit:] Ah yes... the PIV automatically gets the Paula Audio through the Zorro + Video connector and if you have a CD-ROM INSTEAD of using that connector on the Amiga motherboard you can connect it to the PIV using the provided CD-ROM cable.

So your Fli-Fi is fine? No strange mouse trails in the Early Startup menu and you see an AGA screen before the RTG Workbench loads?

I have read the manual, I have seen no section telling if the paula sound is redirected, it anly tells about the cd-rom audio...
or maybe I am wrong

Page 13 in the PIV English manual

Quote:
The Amiga audio signal is picked up with the Amiga video signal, it is available through the Picasso IV external audio connector.

If you also have a sound card I recommend you use that as the main controller. If I recall correctly the Picasso mixer can only output one single audio source at the same time. You have to switch source manually when you want to use another source.

My Delfina can output all sound sources at the same time; with the mixer software I can alter each volume output seperately. I have set the Picasso to output the Paloma sound and feed that to my Delfina.

the plan is to have the paloma and concierto installed on the pIV... AFAIK , the concierto takes all sources and mixes them like your delfina... at least it has a mizer app lol!

Thats sound like it ;-)

BTW the manual switching without the Concierto is also with mixer software called AudioSelect I thought.

I don't own a Concierto myself but I guess it has a more advanced mixer than the PIV's one too!
