How is someone meant to answer this poll if they have multiple Amigas? Should they vote for their first Amiga or the one they use the most? (Provided those are different, of course.)

My newly pared down collection amounts to an Amiga 1000 with a 1080 monitor, a 1010 3.5" disk drive, a 1020 5.25" disk drive, a Compsec AX2000 (2MB RAM expander), SA1000 (SCSI controller) with a Comspec external SCSI chassis with a 4GB drive (soon to be replaced with a CF card, methinks) and an ARM1000 (multi-Kickstart switcher). That's my keep-in-touch-with-my-roots machine.

My day-to-day Amiga is a 1200 with a Blizzard 1230 with 32MB RAM (about to be upgraded to a Blizzard 1260 with 128MB RAM) and an 8GB CF card. I will soon add an Indivision at which time I will kick my whining, ready to explode 1084S to the curb.

Update: I found an Amiga 500 in my closet that I forgot I had. Heh. You might be a nerd if...

I still have my A500 (KS 1.3, AR3, SCSI HD with 2Mb fast) and my A1200 (cheapo 8Mb/clock/68881, 2.5" IDE HD, ooh I think about 20 Mb ;-) I will never willingly get rid of 'em. Worked fine when powered up about 2 years ago. I think the A500 is 20 years old, the A1200 must be about 15. My 1084S died around 2003, one of the older ones sans scart. No room to set them up where I am living now, hurrah for UAE/VICE.

I selected A500, cos most of my software is OCS demos/games.

Thumbs up Only the Amiga makes it Possible

Well guys the best years of my life were spent working for a Commodore outlet. Some ten years all up. I left just 1 year before Commodore folded. So I wasn't there for the A600, 1200, 4000 unfortunately.

But here's my history of Commodore ownership. And yes I still have all my machines to this very day.

Vic-20 (Won in a contest at the age of about 16).

C64 (Can't quiet remember how I got this one, I think I had to save for it).
Ended up running my first BBS on it using an IEEE-488 interface and a really cool set of 8250LP Dual Drives (designed by Commodore, sculptured by Porche).

A1000 My very first Amiga. Got this when our training room upgraded and they sold off the original batch of Pal Amiga's in Australia cheap.
Added a Home brew ST506 controller and a 8MB external expander. 30MB RLL MiniScribe HD. And this too was used to run my BBS,

A3000HD - Saved some big $$'s to buy this little beauty. I remember spending almost 10 Grand all up on it. Added a A2232 mutli serial card and a few other goodies like a 250MB Quantum drive. This to ran my BBS for many years and was the last machine I used with the BBS when the internet came around and I finally pulled the plug.

The BBS was `The Transcendental Connection' FIDO 3:640/281 BTW.

Soon after I left CBM, I bought up some cheap A500's from Target. And a friend in more recent times gave me a couple of A600HD's.

So my collection is currently lacking an A4000 and an A1200HD. (I would really like an A1200HD).

My interest currently is to get storage and network options into my A1000, A3000, and C64 at the bare minimum.

I really wish they still manufactured the AdIDE2 interfaces. I am so kicking myself for not getting some in the early days. They used to cost us about 20 bucks a pop back then.

Also once the next batch of new CatWeasel MK4's come out in September I plan to buy one so I can archive all my disks.

Hope you have enjoyed my little trip down memory lane.

Welcome vk4akp!

When I saw you were from Ipswich, I immediately thought that you were from THE Ipswich near where I grew up in England....
I attended several Amiga swap meets there...

Completely off topic here so sorry

DDNI unlikely i know but

i don't suppose you ever went to one of the shows in london, earls court ,or olympia wasn't it.They had Damocles running there on one tv in what i think was a rolling demo of one of the very cold red planets. The whole thing was quite a thrill actually seeing as i was pretty hyped at the time. Can't remember seeing Paul Woakes though.

I'm just curious to know what show that may have been

Miss the computers shows

Back on topic: i have 2x nos A1200's and 3x A1200.Nice looking machine the A1200

heys Adropac, I went to a couple of Amiga shows at earls court back in the day lol.

Dont recall seeing Damocles running though; that would have been sweet.
Damocles was ready to be launched on PC with 256 colour textured graphics. It was canned though.
I always meant to track Paul Woakes down and plead for him to release it

Wow that's something i never knew concerning a PC version, suprising it never released

Could it have spoiled the atmosphere having textures perhaps, who knows maybe just gouraud shading would have worked nicely.Anyway it definitely must have upset a few waiting for this on pc.

You don't get that same sort of atmosphere in games any more like you did with Damocles

Thumbs up

Hi, Yea. No, Ipswich in Queensland Australia.

Unfortunately I'm not enjoying the hordes of surplus Commodore equipment available in the UK. Or the fantastic exchange rates for the pound and euro.

Actually this did look rather nice.Come to think of it i did have this Edge so quite why i can't remember about a pc version - possibly because i was just jealous in wanting to play it

Is it ever likely to released in any sort of state you reckon?

Dunno, it is listed on PC Games That Werent.... It must exist somewhere though. Paul Woakes is best bet, but he is more elusive than Lord Lucan. Psygnosis should have it too... however who knows since they hit the Sony big time !

Well, since yesterday my Amiga 1200 has a Blizzard 1230 IV accelerator, with 64 MB RAM and still no FPU. It runs like a charm and heats all my room also ^^ (I must to find a solution for this. It's not overclocked)

So now my AMIGAS are:

- Amiga CD32 unexpanded
- Amiga 1200, Blizzard 1230 IV, 68030, 66 MB RAM (2 MB soldered, 64 MB SIMM on accelerator board), 2 GB 2,5" HD and CF PCMCIA reader. PCMCIA Ethernet card also.

Regards,

Salva

My Amigas currently run at:

A3000D (see sig)
A600 (see sig)

And an A1200 on its way. I plan to make the A600 black, add IDE-CF and maybe a CD drive for s**ts and giggles!

Had a 4000/040 and sold it to get a new mobile, I was desperate and a poor student... oh how I regret it, luckily enough someone threw out a 1200 near my flat so I rescued it, had a nice 6gb hard drive and 8mb ram card in the trapdoor! Chuffed or what! :P So know I use that and waiting patiently for another juicy 4000 to turn up on eBay!
