Big grin You guys want a PC remake of QUAK (Team 17)?... Here it is.

I am programing a Quak Clone for the PC, IF you dont know what Quak is then i suggest you grab the adf, its a great Fruit'em'up Game. As my First retro game I decided to go for Quak. Its being Programmed in BlitzBasiz (for the PC) http://www.blitzbasic.co.nz. My original Idea was to release it before Christmas So I could do a Festive/Christmas Edition, but Time has beatem me

Anyway heres an early playable demo, it uses the Original Quak GFX, but It will have Original GFX when complete.
IF ANY OF YOU GUYS CAN DRAW, I NEED A GFX ARTIST DO THE GFX CUS IM SHITE, YOU WILL OF COURSE BE IN THE CREDITS/TITLE SCREEN ETC AS AN EQUAL MEMEBER OF THE TEAM.

The game is more or less complete, gotta tweak the Collison detection and Enemy A.I and then work on the Levels.

IF ANY OF YOU GUYS WANT TO DESIGN SOME LEVELS FOR THE GAME, PLEASE CONTACT ME, I HAVE DESIGNED A MOUSE DRIVEN GUI LEVEL BUILDER SO ITS DEAD EASY TO DO. YOU WILL OF COURSE BE IN THE CREDITS/TITLE SCREEN ETC AS AN EQUAL MEMEBER OF THE TEAM.

Heres a screen grab (uses (c) original Quak GFX, please dont sue me):

Heres a Download (VERY Early Test Level Demo - Nov-16-01):

http://users.surfanytime.co.uk/coffeedotbean/game.zip

Requires: Win 98, 95, 2k, ME - 16MB Ram - DX8 - 16Bit GFX.

It is looking good so far but I need to see it more complete before I can comment Properly.

Only comment I can make ATM is it needs some mod music and sounds.

Sounds like a great idea!

But, it's 'Qwak', not 'Quak'... (Unless you are deliberately changing the name slightly).

Making the levels like the original shouldn't be too hard I'd think.

How do you do the collision checking?

Hey Drake I guess your a fan of qwak... eh? Blitz does have simple collison functions but I dont use them they are not accurate enough, I just make a note of the 4 corners of a sprite and if any combination hit anther sprite then I do something else, like stop the sprites moving on the X axis etc.

I use a Dim array to display and position the Level tiles and Types to create the Fruit/Pickups/ Enemies etc.

I dont want to use the same level in the Original I want to make new ones... dont know if ill go for the full 100 but you never know.

I'm not really that big a fan of Qwak but it went well with my nickname. At least I think it's a duck.
