My given name is Phillip, though everyone calls me Phill, the missus calls me twat, but thats a different thread!

Supposedly my name derives from "lover of horses", whether this means I like horses or LIKE horses I'm not so sure, odd as I have no particular fondness for horses, but cats, yes I do.

In that case my name should be perhaps Fluffy or Tiddles or Kitty.

LO all,

my name is Allan...

The boy's name Alan is pronounced AL-an. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "precious." From Adal. Also possibly derived from the Gaelic "ailin" meaning "little rock." Introduced into England by Breton followers of William the Conqueror, such as Alan, Earl of Brittany, who was rewarded for his services with vast estates in the newly conquered kingdom

My nick comes from my surname - my real name is "Paul Dunn". Paul comes from the latin "paulus", which means "small", and "Dunn" means "brown hill". Hence, "Small brown hill". Make of that what you will :-p

Any aussies in the audience will make the /other/ connection between my nick and the meaning of my name...

D.
