Exclamation Name this machine

After seeing forgotten Worlds being mentioned on another thread I reembered that I played the master system version of forgotten worlds on mega drive once.

There was a (rare?) piece of hardware that I can no more recall the name that was placed between the machine and the cartridge. I checked all the sega dealers throughout the city and found only one of this gizmo. It looked like second hand and some minor accessories were missing but I had to buy it.

It let me play the master system games on the mega drive after my master died. It was quite cool I but I remember having some graphic errors with it. Maybe because it was used before.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on the net and wonder what it's name was.

A friend of mine had one of those. Maybe he still has it.

You can use the pistol too, and the 3D glasses, if I my memory is ok.

Some games had strange behaviour with the Mega-Drive joystick, sou you had to use a Master-System one, but I never had any problems with graphics...

In the manual it was written that some games including Wonderboy 3 would not run without master system gamepad. I'm beginning to remember. There was the card slot for card (pcmcia?) games and this port was also used for 3d glasses and pistol if I remember correctly. The photo is self explanatory, seems like another accessory is needed for this...

Yeah, exactly Wonderboy was the game I remember to not work properly.

Actually, if you plug a Mega-Drive pad in a master-system, it will work fine too, except those same games that refuse to work with the power base converter

Do u know how this thing works ?

You mean the gamepads? I don't know about the origin of the incompatibility.

However both mega drive and master system gamepads worked well with amiga games. The only difference between them should be the number of buttons. I did not try to run wonderboy on the converter so I'm not sure how it behaves with mega drive gamepad

Actually, I meant the converter itself.. I once heard that what it does is 'turn off' the 68000 and let the cartridge "talks to" the Z80 directly

I always used Master-System joysticks with my Amiga
