Right-winged Dark Metal band steals melody from Agony

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimmu_Borgir

Quote:
"Sorgens Kammer" ("The Chamber of Sorrow" in Norwegian) is a cover of a song taken from an Amiga game called Agony. Aarstad used the melody, but did not tell anyone about it. The band always thought it was their own song until the original composer contacted them. Because of this, they removed the song from the 2005 version of Stormblåst. It was replaced by a previously unreleased track called "Sorgens Kammer - del II"

Yeah, that's an old story - the original Stormblåst was from 1996.

It's true indeed: the similarity on a couple of parts is amazing! I didn't know about it, back then when I heard the album, but I was crippled from laughter as that song kicked in.

Great musicianship too. Metal interspersed with SID music, it's my dream

Amazing. I must have visited that wiki page heaps of times, and I have never seen that tidbit. Doh!

It says Stian Aarstad was dumped because he had trouble making gigs and tours...I wonder if he was also fired because of this? He should have been - that type of stuff is completely not on.

Black Metal rocks! But right winged, that is not Dimmu Borgir..

This is not political music, but some stupid people like to think that
lame music like NSBM has anything to do with black metal..

Its black forest music, perfect in dark forests around in
scandinavia, and everywhere else =)

You absolutely need to get SIDOLOGY 1,2 & 3, they're just as good as their Giana Sisters cover.

Hmm why do I suddenly think of Amorphis.
They're not from Scandinavia (Finland) but it's pretty close though.

Hasn't Amorphis gotten gay a long time ago?

Their Ten Thousand Lake phase was amazing though.

And yes everyone should check out the Sidology trilogy, the downloads are free too: http://www.machinaesupremacy.com/webography.html

They're alot more mainstream now. I confess i haven't looked in quite some time, but last time i checked it looked like borderline Radio Mainstream progressive material. Hardly the Doom\Epic Metal they started with.

Amorphis started with death metal (Disment Of Soul, Privilege Of Evil, The Karelian Isthmus) before the doom/death on "Tales..." they got famous with.

Yeah Theropy is cool too

I do nominate Amon Amarth as the King of Scandinavian Metal Scene....

and Destruction as "the best thing ever to come from Germany"
