@viddi: bippym is talking about dpi (resolution) not width / height measurements

Euchhhh!

72DPI.. They'll look poor printed out!

Why not make them 300DPI and then they'll look almost retail perfect if printed on decent paper!

Well, you´ll see some small pixels, but it´s okay.

I printed out every single cover on photoglossy-inkjetpaper.
They look great!

@TheBoss:

I use 300dpi but the final image is much smaller though.

I can only speak of my own designs but after scanning i work with it in photoshop and save as high quality jpg to save space on my free webhost.
Im all in for improving the quality so if you have specific covers already made we should take an extra look at, im sure the team can do something about it.

pTah: thx man! Remember you guys can help make some covers if you wish or request specific covers to be done

I have not done any Amiga specific covers but I have done a lot of DVD labels and also 1 or 2 covers.. here is a link to one of my own made covers (PC game)

Bippy PC game cover

It's small but I have it saved as a 300DPI photoshop element and also a JPG!

I appreciate that 300dpi images are a bit big but let's face it.. the best deserves the best!

@bippy
i think that link is broken my dear friend....

I use the (viddi ) standard of

Inlay
832 pixels (37pxl each spine and 758 insert) x 650 pixel height.

front
650 x 650 pixels

cd jewel case

Front
5' x 4 3/4' inches

650/5 = 130 pixels for each horizonal inch

650/4 3/4 = 136 pixels for each vertical inch

soooo the number of pixels per inch is 130x136 = 17680 pixels per ( squarish ) inch. once you root that number *i cannot be arsed its late lol* this should equate to arround 132pixels.

now a non-specialist printer needs arround 4 to 6 dots to faithfully represent a pixel so at best case scenario the viddi standard is arround 550dpi mark

so the viddi standard should look really nice I have printed a couple out on my colour laser (1200x1200) and I have to admit they look awsome! and fit perfectly the quality all comes down to the images themself, if the image is grainy then the result will look crap as the printers dither their little hearts (and heads) out.

for instance I would personally love to redo the front to Akira with a greater detailed image as it would look much nicer.

*a specialist printer such as a Dye-Sublimination Printer uses pixels per inch*

wow long post about boring printer,..... sorry guys...

What do you think of typing the text AROUND the picture at the bottom of the inlay card?
