cd filesystem problem

Hi:
yesterday i burned an amiga cdimage on my xp notebook.

The cd was burned without problems. When i read it on the notebook all files are seen correctly. If i put the cd on my A4000 with AsimCDFS 3.10 the files are not displayed correctly. Just 8 + 3 chars. Any ideas how could i correct this? Is there a better CD Filesystem?

Best Regards

Rod

I have never used a CD with an Amiga, but the usual formats used with CDs are ISO 9660 (8+3 characters) with one or both of the Rock Ridge extensions (32 characters, IIRC) and/or Joliet extensions (255 characters?). Rock Ridge was common, especially on UNIX systems, before Joliet was popularized on Windows by Microsoft. My first guess would be that the CD you created has Joliet long filenames but not Rock Ridge filenames and that AsimCDFS does not understand the Joliet extensions. The old AsimCDFS announcement pages that I found confirm this.

The easiest solution would be to configure the software that creates the CD image to add Rock Ridge extensions (supported by AsimCDFS v3.7 if not the version you are using).

If you want to check a CD to find out which extensions it uses, get "ISO Buster".

cachecdfs supports joliet.
All Amiga - cdfs support Rockridge, additionally their is a extension to that that supports the additional Amiga-bits for files (pure & script).
I dont know what programms support generating Rockridge-Cds, but I guess most Windows-Suites(Nero,WinOnCD...) dont. Best would be IMHO to create an .iso file on the Amiga with makecd (demo-version`s enough) , then burn that on your PC.

Thanks for the info. Could anyone explain me how to uninstall asimcdfs in a proper way? Cachecdfs is on the Amiga Os 3.9 cd right? Is there a newer version?
