Now THAT is totally cool. But I wonder how come they chose the SNES title (Super James Pond)?

nono, it's just me who have put one SNES screenshot

Another news about it:
Quote:
Swing! Entertainment and Creature Labs have announced the workings of not one, but two James Pond titles! Always a multiplatform critter, James Pond will make his fishy reappearance to the gaming scene in late 2002 via "James Pond: Codename Robocod," a GBA remake of the second James Pond game (Super James Pond for SNES). The following year James will be featured in a brand new game for "next-generation systems." Considering the franchise's demographic and GBA remake, a GCN edition is quite likely.

Hmm, I never really took much notice of the GBA before. Perhaps I'll have to have at least a quick look next time I'm in an electronics shop. There certainly seems to be a lot of interest in old style games. I wonder if they'll do ports of any like Another World/Flashback, or the Alien Breed series? Looking at my Amiga game boxes right now, I think SWIV and the Supercars series would also be quite nice on a handheld.

Re James Pond, I really hope they don't turn this next-gen version into your typical 3D eye candy filled unplayable platformer. Decent games in this genre seems to have almost died out since the advent of 3D .

The GBA is our 2D saviour, and with "terebi de Advance" you can hook it up to your TV (a little modification needed, but no bananas)...

So, long live la gameboy Advance!

Just got an email from Cinemaware's mailing list this morn...it seems they will be doing GBA versions of The Three Stooges, Defender of the Crown, and Wings. Stooges is said to be based on the Amiga version. They say all three will be better than the Amiga versions, so I assume they are basing ALL of them on their Amiga counterparts. Either way, this is great news and it links together yet another Amiga/GBA connection!

Funny, I was playing James Pond today, and thinking about how it's a brill character, and exactly thinking about posting here about how many people like it, and why more wasn't done with him (Lara Croft isn't even half as old as James Pond and has twice number of games).

Even although I am completely out about what's happenning with theGBA (I never saw one running), I am looking forward for this one

I love the GBA but wish they'd included ALL the buttons of the SNES gamepad.

Adding 6 buttons instead of 4 really wasn't too much to ask.

Due to this button limitation, I tend to stay away from games that required all 6 buttons on the SNES (eg. SF2)

The screen can be a bit dull as well, but I guess this is better than having the batteries last 1 hour.

The fact that Amiga games might be ported is really exciting, and buttons are not an issue!

I have no idea how the copyrights to all these old conversions can be overcome, but I really want to see some of the classics on the GBA, not just console conversions.

If they keep the original tunes and feel, well just imagine - super cars 2 linked! Stunt car racer, 4 player! Bloodwych!

Oh man, I'm so excited. Unfortunately, many of these games may not be converted
