Best has to be an A2000, in good condition, with an A2090, 20MB MFM drive an A2058 with 2MB installed and a microway internal flicker fixer, £20 from a car boot, sometime around 1999 if memory serves. It was missing the keyboard though, which the seller promised to return with in the future, never did, though some years later I found an A2000 keyboard for sale there, I suspect it may have been the same guy...
In the meantime I struggled by with an uncased A500 keyboard, until an unfortunate short let the magic smoke out of a resistor on the A2000 motherboard (Scared me shitless, as I'd just installed a CPU socket accelerator and was powering on to test it, only to see smoke drifting from the general area of the accelerator), this pushed me to buy a real one.

Worst: Probably the 40MB 5.25" MFM drive I bought as a cheap upgrade to the 20MB one, it sort of mostly worked some of the time, insofar as any drive on an A2090 works, it cost about a quid though. Anyway, sometime later I got a SCSI card that worked properly, and saw a guy on amibench asking for an MFM drive to work with his A2090, So I offered mine to him for £10 including postage, then realised only a fool would pay £10 for a not-entirely working huge old 40MB drive, so I revised it to £5, he accepted, and I duly posted it, at a cost of about £5.20

When I was at secondary school, I once lent a loooad of games to a friend (at the time), who really liked amiga stuff, so turrican 2 and a load of other things went his way including some of my home compilations.

I nagged him and he never gave me them back (he moved house and all sorts of stuff)... then maybe 3 years ago, I found them! - In fecking CASH CONVERTERS! ... I cant believe I had to pay for my old disks back! maybe 50p a disk or something, but still- ... ARGH!

Best Deal. A friend of my father had an Amiga500 and i had an AtariST. My dad got me the ST and it was ok i guess, but i never really connected with it. I had very few games too. Anyway, my dads friend needed an Atari ST to be able to run some HAM radio software so we did a straight swap. My ST with very very few games for his A500 with about 200 disks.

BEST swap of my life and since that day i was an Amiga Collector.

Eventually ended with an A1200, dual speed cdrom, 400mb h/drive, 030 accelerator with extra 8mb ram, 2nd floppy, numerous joysticks, and a disk collection of over 5000 disks. I still have it all fully working apart from the disk collection. Now thats just a handful of dvd's

Apart from ADF'ing up a handful of disks, my Amiga setup is going on sale. Soon.

You cannot just say that without posting a link to said incident

You didnt buy a KCS PPC for megabucks thinking it was a REAL PPC did you?

Best deal: some used but fully functional and well preserved A600 I got for 33$ a couple years ago

Worst deal: my beloved A500, which I sold for a rather convenient to raise funds for an A1200 the year after it came out. In retrospective, I believe I shouldn't have gotten rid of it, at the end it was like losing a part of me.

Roll eyes (sarcastic)

Best

At one of the very lareg Amiga shows in the early 90s (Olympia, maybe)
ICD Flicker Free Video - £5 from the Silica Stand
ICD Turbo 68000 - £10 from the Silica Stand
GVP G-Force 68030/40/4 - *FREE* from the the Silica Stand

From a smaller show, back end of 93
2 x A1200, boxed, unopened - *FREE*

GVP IO Extender - for 120 PD disks - CPU Computor, Chatham

GG2+ busboard - Free, after reviewing for Amiga User international magazine

A significant amount of beer.. free, after decking (punching, for the non-UK readers) Dominic Diamond at the Exhibitors Party, NEC Computer show backend of 1993.

3 x Seagate barracuda UW-SCSI 9gb disk drives. Free. This was 1998 when they cost about £900... also 4 x PentiumPro 200 CPUs, 15/30gb DLT disk drive, and about 1GB of RAM all free. Seem to remember swapping some of the drives for some computer kit, including a 550MHz Pentium III. Hmm, those were dodgy days.

Worst.
Hmm... desperately wanting my old Video Genie back, 7 years after I sold it, and paying the bloke about £50 more than he originally paid me.

Ah, being refused admission to "Bobby Browns" nightclub after said Exhibitors Party. This wouldnt have been an issue, but the stand opposite us was "Imports 2000", run by a BA steward, whose wife worked for Virgin Airways. She had bought two very attractive fellow stewardesses and I had trapped off with one. :-(

Best: In around 2001 - 2002 I got this from a car boot for £8......

Worst: Not really a deal, but probably letting most of my old Amiga stuff rot in the attic for years rendering it worthless

Best: all amiga's I bought, being an A600 and an A1200.

Worst: The game ' Chigaco '90 ' for 40 Belgian francs (1 euro).
After one play I removed it from the drive while it was still attemping to load. (Though the drive leds were off.) The drive never recovered...

I'd wanted one since I first saw them years ago so was over the moon when I saw it chucked in a box Everything was piled on top of the monitor and extremely dirty. Cleaned it all up and it works perfectly.
