Best:

Back in about 1997-ish I bought a 4000D/040 with 1960 and a stack of dev software for $A650.

Worst:

Sold that same 4000 for $650 after adding a 2065, lithium battery, cdrom and bigger HDD.

Why was it the worst??? Only cos I wish I never sold it.... I just felt sorry for the guy because he wanted one badly, and I hardly had the time to use it. All the same reasons the original guy sold it to me.

and as far as that barrel nonsense goes... indeedy we like coin batterys... wish I had one on my 060... then perhaps i wouldn`t be sending it to JJB ...

Still waiting to hear back from him... hmm maybe hes on holiday...

Best: Taking a knackered A1200 (faulty ports) I bought of some bloke in West London for 50. Took it to a computer shop in Upminster. They couldn't fix it after 2 weeks so they gave me a brand new A1200 still in the box for 40. Now that's a result!

Bad: Getting rid of everything Amiga (tons of games, mags, monitor, printer, etc, etc.), except my A1200 and then stumbling on EAB some 6 months later to find the Amiga is still alive and kicking....

90 for a brand new A1200... What year was it? If it was early nineties then that was a great deal.

The best Amiga deal I ever did was when I bought my first Amiga at list price, 450 Euros with no extras. No kidding. A major event.

The worst was when I bought a _new_ A500+ from a major chain when I worked in London. The PSU was used, the keyboard was worn, and it kept Guruing. I went back and told them, voice trembling with scorn, "How about you give me a NON-USED Amiga?" They did. I talked to some people and apparently this chain sold stolen goods. If I can find their ad from an Amiga mag I'll report back.

Autumn 1994. Couldn't get out the shop quick enough! Seriously though, the guys at the computer shop who were top experts in fixing Amigas were so disappointed they couldn't fix it, which is why they offered me a brand new one for 40 as a way of saying we can't fix it, so have this for this inconvenience of waiting 2 weeks.... I still have it now!

best deal - buying my perfect 1200 boxed with all polys, instructions, software etc for 3 from a flea market.

worst deal - then being forced to sell it about a year later for 60 due to skintness.

Best Deals:
An A1200 in Tower, with Blizzard 1260, 17" Multiscan and much computing equipment: Blizzard 1220/4, Blizzard 1230/IV for 100€ - it was an absolutly concidience.

An A4000 in mint condition with Oktagon, VlabMotion for 100€ - An mini Ad, ive seen in the last day of an seminar. That computer has coused my Amiga Revival 2004.

An A3000 in mint condition with Cybervision 64 for 120€ - Was on epay called "i think, scsi is defective, selled without HDD", because it didn`t load any Program.
...It was only one of the "Superkick" A3000. I had to install the Kickstart on Hdd, now he works fine.

Do'h if only you'd had a Relokick disk, your games could have been made to work on your A500+.

I can only think of my worst deal...
I sold an Amiga Excellerator to some kid... thought I`d help him out and meet him half was ( as he was paying 170 cash ) met him exchanged very happy.....

Half way home my oil light came on my Renault... engine went clackerty clack for a few seconds and died..
I pulled over and found two holes in the side of my engine.
Didn`t have any RAC or AA cover ( used one of the phones on the side of the motorway ) got towed to my house..
and GET THIS!!! he didn`t accept debit card... had to be cash

and you know how much that was!!!!!!!!!!!!!

170 ffs!

right.. thats annoyed me again now... gotta think of some good stories

best deal: got an A500 from dad in June 1988, and since I was 16 and had no financial means at all, I got it for free

other deals: hardware bootswitch I got for free from a guy who bought it, failed to install it properly, made his Amiga braindead; so asked me to see if I could fix: a CIA had a bent pin not making contact anymore do to badly socketed bootswitch. So fixed it, but guy got so scared about bootswitch he did not want it anymore so gave it for free, still is in my A500 today!

Action Replay MK3 for free - but never used it (still in my cellar)

Bridgeboard A2286 for free - but never used it (don't even know where it is now)

A3100 or something like that SCSI tapestreamer with several tapes which turned out to be a full backup of the Boondocks BBS ! 2 tapes were unreadable tho... - once all tapes were backed up, gave it away for free to a US guy based on military base in Germany

Baracuda 9GB SCSI HD I bought for about 50 euros in 1997 for my A4000/040 (was one of the best HDs back in the nineties)

worst deal:

a twat from a Amiga computer shop in Genk (Belgium) where I bought end of 1994 a 2nd HD FDD for my A4000, was already overpriced (near 200 euro I believe), the guy could not install it properly (due to wrong FDD cable assembly causing leds of both drives to light up when DF0 was active) and still guy charged me about 20 euros for 'correct installation' which took 5 minutes, pretending the led issue was 'normal' and I had to live with it.

other bad deal: USB1.1 + ethernet card for A4000 2 years ago, new from shop, was nearly 250 euro, too silly price considering how obsolete the hardware was. It did work thought; albeit very slow and cumbersome to configure.

Yup ! I'm a happy man today I don't know why but I find all the good deals these days. The guy who sold this probably didn't know much about what he was selling, he said the item was instable and the cosmetic condition was not very good. So all the japanese chickened out and I got it ! These japanese are really weird. They care too much about the cosmetic appearance and originality of the item instead of the function. This A530 has been modded , the original psu socket was taken out and a standard hd psu connector sticks out of it place, which is then connected to a standard pc psu. The item came with something like a laptop psu which works well as far as I tested. The same guy is trying to sell a GVP A500+8, for 10.000 yen because it's in better cosmetic condition ! (he asked 15.000 first, but nobody bid so he lowered the price). They kind of see these items like museum pieces I guess. The only problem I guess with the a530 was the 4.5 rom inside, and the original maxtor 120 mb drive (which still had the gvp sticker on it) which was slowly dying. I put my hd+8's 4.13 rom and a 4gb scsi drive in there and now it rocks

http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h41532104

he's also selling an a500+ with a vxl accelerator. He said he tried the gvp with this computer. I wonder if he stripped the vxl first first plugging the gvp ? 2 accelerators in one a500+ is bound to cause problems.

ok ... now to find some of those special gvp rams for this baby ... (it came with only 4mb)
