westwoodtool.lbrary Registration?

Hi DUDS,

I plan to add a registration in the next functions of “westwoodtool.library” .

Why?

The work of adaptation of EyeOfTheBeholder1&2 in AGA is difficult and long.

A registation could encourage me to continue after EOB1&EOB2 to improve others games.

Indeed, I consider the adaptation of other Westwood's games in AGA.

then can you answer the following poll:

1) A billion Dollars is not enought for this great project

2) I would agree for a registration with payment of 20 $ U.S.Dollar

3) I would agree for a registration with payment of less than 20 $ U.S.Dollar

4) No registration, you are a robber and miserly !!!!

5) without opinion

Thanks to give to me your opinion if you are interesting by EOB AGA project.

Regards,
Bertrand/CFou!

Without reading... (only the title) I definently think people should charge a small amount of money to play play these games you are redoing... even though they are from the PC version and the gfx is not yours and stuff...

Because it will encourage you to do future stuff for the Amiga, which is quite rate when it comes to games. I would like to see Dune 2 on PC be ported to Amiga... ported or what ever you do ... hopefully the music too if that's possible, as the music on PC is probably midi... music makes a game alot better, and the Amiga version doesn't have more than a vocal sound, like aaahhhhhhhhhhh..... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... booooring....

Anyway.. keep up the good work mate!

edit.... I'm not interested in EOB.. not my taste of game.... but what you are doing is great..

Yes let's make it like WHDLOAD. Considering the huge amount of time and work involved, plus i personally add that Bertrand is actually the most
loyal guy for doing such projects. he just take up the charge and never stop.

Hence pay 20 dollars for all his work would be more than normal to me.

He is involved, let's give him a proof that his work is valuable.

I'll register once it's proposed !

i take in consideration the difficulty of the task.....

here Bertrand is jsut patching, and it's hard, but on EOB3 it could be harder
than now......

20 dollars is not expensive to me really..... it's worth the result !

i'am working on EOB2

after i will add automap function on EOB1&2 & finish multilangage versions

when finished, i will start Dune2 AGA to support WSA format

If enought knowledge about SHP format, a LandOfLore version will be planned but it's not again sure because i must support before WSA/SHP animation formats with this library and understand how INF format is managed with EOB1/EOB2 and LOL

For EOB3 is more complexe, all files must be indentified and reworked

it's a big and hard work and it should be remunerated, however, i would be more for a complete tool for modification than for the modifications themselves

I don't think you may make the Library registration up.
It may be more logic to make game registration
so, you can setup registration for each game you'll adapt instead of simply for the library.
if you want to make registration for games I agree (if you accept paypal, it's a +)

i am no legal right on this games :confuse

but if i do a registration i will be for other game functions (automap by example)

Without registration, Games will be fully playable in AGA

In fact perphas a simply contributtion, can be asked for interested people....

What is your optinion about it?

PS/
I have never gained moneys with my passion and it is not an aim....

to articulate: the registration if the library is legit, some amount or another: CFOU is legitimate to ask registration to it while however the work he has done around this project doesn't amount only to this tool, but also to a lot of ancillary documentation of resources and the conversion in AGA and basis for translations in other languages of already one whole game. that is work that we enjoy for free, but it's work none the less.

to ask for payment on conversions, instead, it would be like one take one of my old drawings either one i've given away for free or one i've sold [and any contract on that kind of transition usually restricts to a specific and agreed use, and only for that], modify it, then sell it again at my back. i would be angry.

you can add "Donation" mode on

I think that for legal issues, you may extract your changes from the original game and create as a patch, the changes that make the game playable using AGA, also add a free link to DL/ the resources.
You own your source code changes so... the registration can be linked to that. not ?

technically it would be like the various custom workbenchs, which are free. (the last time i checked them). it's better that a law man answers as i have not the knowledge to. what i can say is that to me it would bug me pretty much the same:
let's say producer A sell his original product on wich he has authorial rights; then it comes B that sells and distributes an implant that is specifically built for that product and modify its substance.
really i don't know if it's ok or not, probably there are lots of dynamics just lke this in life, and they are legit.
however.
i stay in favour of the westwoodtool registration only. that said, i guess that from all the work done in these months, other tools for modifications are coming, like (if ever )zetr0 editors; Jackasser mentioned he wanted to do a conversion of the same westwoodtool for PC etc so probably it's better if all of them guys talk it out a little and decide a common plan.
however, again, CFOU is an ok dude in my book and i'll support the westwoodtool.

all EOB1 &2 source codes of course will be free , i planed to join them to final package (without westwoodtool.library sources)

But for final package in me opinion, if i want to upload it on aminet, i must use only an installer (extracting datas of PAK PC files by example and adding sound/music files and 2 modified files (blue item of detect magic))

What is your optinion about it?

ps: i am waiting the billion dollars of anonimious guy who has voted for that
