Exclamation Deliplayer Development Stopped - Project Dead

This is a great shame, i love amiga tunes, mods, and chiptunes, and let's face it Deliplayer was the go to solution, despite it's many shortcomings on the PC platform...

I am upset with the progress of dp2 / 3

I have been attempting to contact both Florian and Peter over the past 6 months with no reply.

My angle on the project has always been that its great to support all the formats but lets build on that and concentrate on the future requirements. And 'dumb up the UI' so winampers can use the program .......

I would never have considered posting the above had it not been for the total silance (even to me) of Florian and Peter about the progress (or lack of) of the dp project over the past 6/12/24 months.

I still regard deliplayer as one of the best audio p[layers for Windows...... but I have to admit I am very upset that the project has ground to a halt in such a way.

I don't know what else to say?! !!!!!! ???????????????
I'd wish someone would continue the project, at least to fix it's bugs and perfomance issues, since most formats are already supported. The app is unfortunately pretty bloated, still.

I'd really wish they'd release this into Open Source if they abandoned all development, it's a shame to think we're now stuck with the current version(s) and the program simply went to the trashcan. Or at least hand down the sources to someone so they don't get lost forever. We simply don't have any other program the caliber of Deliplayer for Amiga tunes.

Sad news indeed. I use Deliplayer a lot, not only for Amiga mods, but mp3 too. Who knows, given the popularity of this audio player, and constant pressure from the public, the Open Source may get released at some time or another...

What's worrying is that the webmaster\maintainer isn't even able to get a hold of the two programmers. I hope this doesn't get lost forever

There is an opportunity for someone to port UADE to Windows (again) then and get it in as part of the regular build tree

Delix and XMPlay work great, and both are still under development I think.

deliplayer supports anything that has a player extension... Wanted Team have done a crapload of DeliTracker/EaglePlayer players that can be used with DeliPlayer.

I'm also quite annoyed that Deliplayer seems to have ground to a halt. Personally though, I think writing a whole player wasn't a good idea - what would have been better would have been to write a portable library that handles playback of Amiga formats, similar to UADE.

Deliplayer was a commercial product when it started. I actually paid my $25 or whatever it was.

Several years later it became shareware/freeware/cardware or whatever it is now.

This is why it is a whole player, they tried to adopt the Nullsoft (WinAMP) approach and create a Mediaplayer that rivaled / surpassed the others that people might pay for.

For a small time back at the start it looked like they may actually do it... then the bottom dropped out of the Market. WinAMP became free, M$ launched XP with WMP9. Their skins / visualisations looked dated, their pay-for model looked very shakey. It is not surprising that they have stopped development (or at least made it a hobby project).

This is their baby, I wouldnt open source my 'lifes work'... at least not if there was the slightest chance that I would work on it again. Or that it may make me some income.
