I second that.

Well the zip archive reveals the OLD URL of Home of the Underdogs, so this proves the game *HAD* been there once. Probably they were forced to remove the game from the site by threats of legal action?

Nope, game is still there but disguised as Supercars.

see thread on SC International: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...+international

@EmuChicken: yes, the game has made further progress. Here they are (more to come before next release)

Version 0.05
- enhanced: some title & information screens are ripped from 256 color SC International
- fixed: race money was not added but just set (that was unfair)
- fixed: in 2 player mode, fixed partial car display on player 2 view
- fixed: vertical tunnels are now supported properly (SC1 circuits)
- added: original Supercars II car (EmuChicken did the 3D model)
- fixed: heap problem (using -Xmx option, maybe 100 MB is too much...)
- added: right arrow key goes to next demo screen without having to wait for timeout
- reworked: some graphics were processed using scale2x for better 2x resize
- fixed: power steering (speed/acceleration still to tune)
- fixed: no more continuous colliding sound when car is repositionning
- enhanced: interruptible sample play
- added: tyre screech sound
- added: fixed car colors (were too flashy)
- fixed: Beetle color & scale/size

Wow, weird! I had no idea that SuperCars was so popular! I recently started playing SuperCars 2 again using WinUAE and savestates to finally get to the bottom of those annoying conversations that came up!

I have a list of the right answers somewhere if anyone is interested? (Some of the answers are pretty random!)

I had the idea of using savestates to do so but it's pretty tedious and boring.
Besides, answers are not random at all. Check this thread:

I'd prefer as models, in green please.

About project progress, yes, I've got a few things left to do before I release another version (still very alpha but will be more playable). Check my webpage for snapshots. Here's what I did since last release (summarized):

Version 0.05
- enhanced: some title & information screens are ripped from 256 color SC International
- enhanced: original car explosion animation (the old one has been ripped from James Pond!!)
- added: original Supercars II car (EmuChicken did the 3D model)
- reworked: some graphics were processed using scale2x for better 2x resize
- added: tyre screech sound
- added: fixed car colors (were too flashy)
- enhanced: larger playfield (640x400 -> 640x480)
- added: more news screens
- added: game over & rating screen
- added: communication screens

There are a lot of bugfixes also, and I improved the car control too.

Okay, thanks for the new models, I downloaded them. I'll include them in the next release (v0.05), but now this is time for the monthly update. A lot has been done since last month, there are a lots of major bugs to fix too !!

The major stuff being *communication screens* !!!

Awesome update! - it plays a load smoother than the last releases, but still bugs... doh! ... being sent to the other side of the level seems aplenty... aswell as sometimes dying for no reason... - oh, and the title of the window says 0.4 instead of 0.5 :-D

otherwise- its getting near a damn fine game :-D

Supercars 3 new release

0.07 is out, and now really playable.

I have added trains, fixed a few bugs, added route change for the ennemies, and improved their behaviour (still some work to do though)

http://perso.orange.fr/jotd/supercars3/

cheers

Hey man, cool that you're still working on it ... its good news

... how about speed up the cars a little for the first stage? It feels a little slow (but it may be cos Ive been on the ST version of SC2 recently)

Yes, keep going your work on this nice remake. Are you intend to build in a joypad/joystick control in the near future?

contributors needed

If anyone wants to design Supercars 2 style circuits using bits of original supercars 2 circuits, I'll be glad to "vectorize" them and include them in the next supercars 3 release

Yes. This is planned.

Oh, BTW I found another remake, incomplete (only 2 circuits, not a lot of features), in java, there: http://sbeam.dk/projects/supercars/

Development seems to have ceased.
