Hurrican -Must See- !!

Probably only a minority of you havent heard of this, but its a new Turrican style game that ive been following for what seems like years.. actually maybe 3 years now!. Im not how close it is to completion, but check out this website and its screenshots of the game.

I know its being written for the PC, but its a retro Turrican style game, so im sure we all appreciate how great this looks!.

The site has been translated from German, so the english will be a little off.

Yes, i know this really cool Turrican Remake. But they write for several years on this game. Don't expect a release very soon.

But you can download Takatis, a Katakis remake.

Yeah i saw that a long time ago but i hated the look of it, because its really poorly rendered, plus i dont like rendered graphics anyway.. pixel art in games beats it hands down.

I know Hurrican is also mostly rendered too though, but its been done so damn well that i'll let it pass...

Have you seen the hq-preview movie? The effects are awesome. I don't like the maincharacter design, but the weapons looks really cool.

What is the HQ preview movie?. Ive seen the Hurrican preview movie if thats what you mean, and if that is what you mean then yes i must agree that the main character does look somewhat iffy.

I meant only the high qualtiy preview video. They need to finish the last two levels but the game is in development since 2001/2002. Maybe a first release in 2007?

Looks more like a Turrican / Abuse hybrid than an actual remake. I'm actually very much looking forward to playing this.

The music in that preview is awesome, very Huelsbeck-ish and funky!

I do rather like the graphical style! I agree with the Turrican meets Abuse

I think the gun effects look cool, particularly how you can beam up the weapon then fire it off on any angle to destroy stuff!

Having said that, there are too many layers of parallax which clutters things up imho, and it looks like most of the enemies take tonnes of bullets to destroy which makes it more of a shoot-then-dodge game than Turrican with it's "more enemies at once but mostly 1 shot to kill" action.

And for my liking, you can't beat the old pixel artists over these rendered texture type games...

I don`t like all those rendered shit, but I`m looking forward to this one. I hope they will include joystick controll. The preview version has only keyboard controls.

Just checked the Forum: Yes, it runs via Wine with Linux. But a user reported some glitches. I guess, they will fix it later on. Try it, blade.
