I checked again.
This time using trainer on A500 and A1200 and both fails to load the final boss.
Checked disk for read errors as well, checks out 100% ok.

Conclusion, works in UAE but not real hardware.

This is "nice jumping to conclusions conclusion". Did you forgot that standard A500 can have about 10 different configurations and all are "real a500"s. Did you use 100% matching configs?

Other reasons like extra drives, game being stupid and assuming some specific sector positioning (accidentally works), bad drive rotation speed? Same drive used for reading and writing?

The config I used in WinUAE is a cycle exact KS1.3 + 512kb slow OCS config just like my real 500.
The drive in the 500 is a Panasonic I salvaged from a Commodore A1200, ie. not Escom A1200.

I wrote the adf back to disk on my A1200 (1.D4) with an AmigaKit drive, so yes same drive used for read/write (fails to load on that too).

I know that Wepl isn't happy with code style this game has.
From WHDLoad readme:

note: extremely bad code style this game!

Yeah, he's brown instead of blue.

I just got a guru (00000004.020B82C0) using these disks on real A500:
The DSDD floppies are fine as I used verify when I wrote them to make sure they worked.

I was about to enter "Section 02" (screenshot 49 at HOL) and disk 3 was in use when it happened.

[edit]
Exactly same problem in WinUAE.

Something is not right with this version of the game.

I'd appreciate if somebody could point me in the direction of 100% working adfs, unfortunately it runs very sluggish via WHDLoad on my A1200.
The extended version upped to the zone ages ago seems to have a knackered disk 3 image, it just hangs at a black screen where the CLS version gurus.
First disk was crackfixed only. It was hidden data problem, if I remember right.

Walker (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr ATX].adf - f613bf96

Instead of feeding the key to the copylock, it skips it and attempts to patch out checks for the correct values, but it only NOPs out one of the three checks.

End result: once you've beaten the first level, it'll ask for Disk 1 and load the Game Over screen (proof of a failed protection).

D-Generation v1.05 (1992-06-15)(Mindscape)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr FLT][t +10 LGD] - 7161ead2

Note to the doofus who compiled this specific disk back then: when adding a trainer to a FLT crack, next time make sure the actual executable from that crack is used. What a maroon!

Did some exe comparisons between all the cracks of this game, and this one matched 1:1 with LGD's trained release of the NMS crack. The problem?

NMS set it up so that you needed to run their cracktro to ensure the copylock key is copied to $C0 in memory. And the reason for this is their hardwire is set up to do the following:
Code:
move.l c0.s,d0
bra.b (44)
Couldn't keep things simple with a direct key feed like FLT, tut tut.

The above listed disk - as you can imagine - does not even include this cracktro on the disk, replacing it with FLT's own program (and even then the startup-sequence doesn't actually load it!). FLT opted not to do the sneaky shit NMS did. But the hardwire in the copylock is NMS's. Still with me?

Bottom line: no copylock key is given to the game when needed. The game therefore will end after you escape the first floor. So much for that carefully implemented trainer, eh chaps?

Major one incoming!

Code:
Globdule (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL].adf - 0f6eeb73
Globdule (1993)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL].adf - 51856e02
Duff crack I'm afraid. To summarise quickly:

1) A checksum check was missed that would cause some oddities throughout the game.
2) The crack is only good for before the Psygnosis screen anyway, yet they left it to continue checking for a routine which no longer matters anymore because you're never asked for a code again, and they duplicated the crack across both disks, which meant you couldn't use any other version of Disk 1 or 2 in conjunction because it would trigger an access fault and crash the system.
3) Whichever member of Crystal cracked it obviously didn't test it far enough, as they'd be aware that it would crash without fail at a specific level in the game, thanks to their cracktro replacing important level data at the very end of the disk! As a result, it's impossible to complete the game, both because of the non-working level *and* the aforementioned inability to use a good Disk 1 due to Crystal's incompetence! (Mind you, this game must not have been popular enough for anyone to alert them back then so that they (or anyone else) could do a "fo'-realz 101%!!!" release.)

To add to all the fun, this is the only known crack of the game out there.

....or at least it was, until I uploaded a brand new crack by yours truly in the Zone just now. More details are in the included readme.

Pirates! - Quartex crack, manual protection - didn't seem to be cracked at all

Am sure this has been TOSEC'ed but don't know if it was ever identified or not, or maybe it was later fixed

If fixed already, can what is the adf name?

What was up with that exactly - ie. what was the actual mistake in the coding?

I think I had both original and cracked version of these on disk but both had same issues - not sure if I have re-release or not, but has re-release been cracked since and if so what is the adf name in TOSEC?

This was also one where I thought the original would have copied easily using a sector by sector copy, but it didn't (Double Dragon and DDIII originals both copied easily for me, but not DD2)...

but strangely the crash in the copy happened in the same place as when trying to load DD2 original on a non Agnus 8371 Amiga - coincidence?

Here's more info about it: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=63152 and also on the HOL entry in the notes section (http://hol.abime.net/395)

Graham Gooches Second Innings, I had to crack it properly

And both Skid Row and Classic didn't crack Shockwave properly either.

PS. If you read some of the posts in the thread "Fixing Flashback version.. Ongoing.." you will see that there is no protection on this version what-so-ever. The .adf files were created straight from the .ipf files i.e. 1885 Flashback 4 English OCS EU Retail: Delphine Collection:
Funny thing is that in delphine collection box is manual with protection codes - totally useless, because game is not protected.
