Smile Afterlife

Quite simply the most underrated LucasArts game ever.

I don't understand why the majority of PC gamers didn't warm to this fine strategy sim, which didn't get the Quake-or-SimCity-like online/fan support it quite frankly deserved.

The music was brilliant, as was the two advisors in the game, Jasper and Aria. The graphics also looked rather nice, and made the game look rather colourful to me. The game had some great built-in scenarios, too (although it was a shame you couldn't make your own (probably because LucasArts pretty much abandoned the game not long after its release, even though they still sell the game and the strategy guide (which I actually might get) in their online store, although I'm sure neither of the SimCity games could do this either (unless anyone wants to prove me wrong?)). However the difficulty can be rather hard to me at times, especially the point where Jasper keeps on complaining that your roads in Hell aren't twisted enough, even though I don't see how you could possibly make them worse than they are already.

Anyway, apart from that one gripe, Afterlife has been a great game forever immortalised in the "Underrated Classics" section of the games world.

I only wish LucasArts would just take a break from making identical and rather pointless Star Wars games and concentrate on a possible sequel to Afterlife perhaps.

(Note: I was unable to find a large scan of the (English) Afterlife box anywhere on the net. Perhaps someone here who has the game (and a scanner would probably help too) might be able to offer any scans?)

@Akira

What do you mean "protected"? I click on the links and the larger imprints come out exactly fine on my computer.

And who cares if it's similar to SimCity? Are you like this towards all the other SimCity clones?

And where exactly are you gonna *download* it, Ak?

@Cody: what, you mean the way I did the thumbnail trick? Aw, geez... you're makin' me blush.

Anyone who can guess how I performed the thumbnail trick on this board will be deemed as smart as me, literally.

btw - I don't want to be deemed as smart as you. I don't want to sound egotistical or anything, but I know I'm already smarter than you

It's quite simple. The images you thought were there were in your cache. But to the rest of us, we got the Moby Games ad instead of what you think your links were displaying. I think Cody was being sarcastic.

That´s what I meant with ´protected´, Marzo. where am I going to dload it? 0-day 1337 FTP, bitch (not really, i thought this was abandonware :P)

I dont have anything against Simcity clones, I just think that this game is not original, thus it cant be regarded as "uber"

Bleh, trust MobyGames to act greedy and not allow anyone to spread their images around. Oh no, they require you to go straight to their fucking site, first, and force you to click several times on several pages till you get to the ones you want to view.

Double bleh, I'm gonna try and find another batch of screenshots, this time from a site who is at least kind enough to let the public link to their images from an outside site.

Sorry to disappoint you just then, audience.

I don't think that Moby Games are being greedy here. The problem is that another website could link to the images on Moby Games for free. Moby Games is probably paying for server space and if the bandwidth usage rises, then they will charge Moby Games more and the site may have to close.
