Question Best ADF Explorer-type program?

Both ADF Opus and ADF View haven't been updated in quite a while, and I know that they're a tad buggy under XP anyway.

I was just wondering if anything better has arrived since my long absence?

Also, is there a way to explore IPFs yet without having to use WinUAE?

AFAIK there is no newer versions of any ADF explorer program (1.2 ADF Opus) and there is no IPF explorer either.

Shame because the ADFView's use of virtual namespace was excellent.

I could always give you the source code (Delphi) to my adf viewer / editor.
I have not worked on it for well over a year though.

ADF View doesn't seem to work as well on XP as it did on 98 (it would use the wrong icon association for instance).

Especially considering (as I discovered this week) it doesn't even work properly with ADFs with spaces in their filenames. So that pretty much throws the complete TOSEC collection out of the window already. Hnnnngh.

Total Commander has an ADF plugin, but that's just too fiddly to set-up to begin with, and probably not what beginners would best be happy with.

More than a year now since I made this thread, wow!

Any luck with the program, Big-Byte? It's a bit of a shame that the Amiga scene doesn't see any more regularly-maintained Windows programs in general apart from WinUAE.

Total Commander's ADF/HDF/DMS plugin is rather nice. Should check it out if you haven't already.

ADF View works fine with XP. set icon association with folder options/filetypes or "open with" in rmb/properties

ups, missed that one...

Difficult to set up?! You just click on the zipped plugin in TC's list view and choose YES when asked whether you want it installed... how complicated is that?

Adf view is great i had this working on my XP but suddly now comes up some stange error that i cant copie files :-(

i reccomend ADfOpus .6x /.7x simple and easy to manage files / drag & drop copie / Dms Convertion to Adf disk good to.

The 1.2 is to buggy for me too when reading Disk or just doing simple move of file, i go for a early verions adfopus.

I dunno, old versions of ADF Opus still seem buggy to me. What's more, you can't "auto-load" an ADF through it if the path (be it filename or foldername) has any spaces in it. That's retarded.

Ooooh, turns out ADF View was updated again just a couple days ago or so, mainly for Vista compatibility according to the news.... but testing it out now and it appears to be behaving up for once. No shadows underneath icons and it supports filenames-with-spaces-in-them. Woo!

Still flounders with ADFs/HDFs with commas in their name and/or with an odd size (like extended ADFs or those 923kb coverdisks, or HDFs less than 2mb in size) though. Tch.

Is this some overall ADFlib limitation? You'd think the guy(s) behind that would sort out the above-mentioned problems by now, what with it still receiving regular updates and all.

Great... Just Download Adfview from the site location it hard to tell if this is a new version he need to add a Date next to his Download Link, it only the news gives You indication their a new version.

Just Tested the version that linked to download. look's like im back in action Adfview is up and running not Recieved any of those Null errors when doing a Drag & Drop or just a simple Copie of a file it's now working for me.

Tested with Classic_WB_Full reads HDF fine...great ( Windows XP+SP2 )

Yep we now need option to be added to strip out commas for disk names - good tool i use ReNamer 4.60 this work great with bulk files on the PC.
