Catweasel in short supply??

I read in this weeks MicroMart that the Catweasel could be in short supply soon.
The German goverment wants every company that supplys electronic parts be responsible for the recycling of there products. Fine in principle, but all the red tape has stopped companys from producing untill they can register and pay the revelant fees.

It's out of proportion. They should demand recycling from the big companies, like Ericsson, that produces hundreds of thousands of PCBs a week. Like the Catweasel guys are gonna have impact on the environment in any way, shape or form. Silly. :/

I personally feel that it`s up to every individual to be responsible for recycling their own waste products, and that includes redundant PC`s. If you want to "scrap" a PC then pay for it.

so I wonder if another company will step in with a similar product, or if Jens will release his info into the public so enthusiasts can make their own? Otherwise say goodbye to reading/writing Amiga disks, using an Amiga mouse, keyboard and joystick, or listening to SID music with a PC.

It's not supid. It is very very sensible. The stupid thing is that they did not allow people enough time to register before it came into force. Either that or Invidual Computers did not register early enough (I do not know the details).
