This is perfect - thank you.

Sorry I've not posted for a while - I've been busy with "real" work commitments, and preparations for xmas.

You're doing a sterling job, GifGit - many thanks for your contributions.

As promised I'll make sure you're name is imblazoned at the top of the credits!

You can also be my chief alpha-tester, if you like!

I've got a lot of work planned and worked out for the editor - it's just a case of finding the time to implement it.

I would expect that progress will be slow between now and Xmas, but will swing in to full-speed in the new year.

Something else you can get started on for me IF YOU WANT TO GifGit - I need all the monsters for the game, each on their OWN seperate bitmap, with the animations running left-to-right. I can do this myself if you haven't got the time, but if you want to be heavily involved in the graphics side of this project, then by all means go ahead.

Again, many thanks for taking the time to do the level maps - much appreciated, this will save me a shed-load of time.

hi,
if you are still on the lookout for original ideas to go into your game why not go to: http://forum.shmups.com/forum/
everyone there are shooter mad and will have a plethora of suggestions for you.

my 10p:
i dunno if your idea of the game never ending but continual random levels is a good one. i think people need to know they are striving for something, being a shooter addict myself i know that score is a damn good reason to play a game but others like to play to get that 1 credit clear. Perhaps two modes could work, a never-ending mad mode and a mode whereby once level xx has been reached you get congratulated and given a special upgrade or something and then the game goes into loop 2 which is basically the same as starting again only harder enemies or whatever.

if that doesnt quite make sense i can elaborate further if you are interested in the idea

This looks cool, I had a go at doing a Xenon remake a while back using 3D models instead of sprites, started to look quite good. Like so many things though, it just ended up taking a back seat... keep up the good work though, looking promising.

And I did a remake of the Megablast tune... OK... I was messing around with my overdrive pedal and it just kinda fell out of the guitar...

Get if from the downloads section of my site (link below)

Xenon 2 Remake

Hey all. Just found this thread and have been working on a vertical scroller the last week or so using graphics from Xenon 2 and 2000. If anybody would care to take a look there is a couple of download links over at shmup-dev website.

Have finished the flamethrower, rear cannon, dual shot, side cannons, lasers, rocket launcher, missile launcher. Have a look at let me know what you think.

Work has ground to a halt on the sprites ATM cos of a major hd crash which destroyed most of my work ,plus I got a nasty little virus which ruins cd`s so any saved work is gone.I`ll see what I can salvage once I get this virus sorted.

Damn...sorry to hear that gifgit.

No pressure anyway - I haven't touched my Xenon program for a few weeks now, been too busy with more serious projects.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick this up again in a few weeks time.

Hope you manage to get your PC sorted chap.

Eep! Hope you get it sorted!

Speaking of the Bitmap Bros, what's happened to them?? It seems to me that after Eric Matthews became less involved (after Chaos Engine 1) they got pretty shit (never played Z though). Speedball 2000 was an AWFUL remake of the original.

On their site there hasn't been a news update since 2002 and they haven't responded to emails. What was this WWII: Frontline Command mentioned on their site? Was it any good?

Hi Guys

Just thought I'd better let everyone know I'm still alive.

Had a really manic time lately - setting up my own company which is taking up a lot of my time, so I'm not getting much chance to work on GygaBlast.

In case anyone is interested, and also to provide some indication of the sort of quality level of programming I provide in everything I put together, I have a downloadable freeware asteroids clone on my company website:

www.bonnersoftware.com

Feedback would be appreciated.

Xenon 3 is not dead - just low on my priority list at the moment.

Hope everyone's keeping well.

Laters.
