I guess that depends on if the game has a copy protection or not. Afaik, it doesn't have one.

Well, "weak" copy protections (pseudo track 80 etc.) can also be handled by an extended ADF.

I think most would prefer an IPF image then, as extended ADF are kind of "outdated". But the game never reached gold status, so it's unlikely that it has a copy protection.

... but they do not require proprietary closed-source software (.DLL) to run.

@CFOU!: Good luck. I've dropped Alain an email too, asking him a few questions about the PC version. But he ignored my email, and I doubt that he will reply to yours.

well...... ... . . does this game exist on other platforms? can't the music be ripped from a say, a pc version?... or maybe be re-created in some way...?... i know a lot of amiga mod musicians who are still more or less active... as for the font, it could also be redrawn.

Well, the game has no music, and worse, we unfortunately have a version far less better
than the one sent to the french magazine GENERATION 4.

As CFOU! said, the game is extremmely buggy.

BTW Laurent as asked me how far CFOU! get with the game, for which i reply that
many many bugs have to be corrected and the game code is horrible...

Hello,
I'just to say about "Light Quest"

1) First point, "Light Quest" is copyrighted by Ubi-Soft, is not "freeware", it's very bad
think to propose any element to free download.
2) Where to find the files ???? ( I'dont send any files )

3) I dont finish to programming "Light Quest", because, I'm not very good programmer,
( The source code is not bad, is terrific bad )...
4) I'm still programmer, I'm still bad programmer, but is my passion, and I'm make good
money.

I dont live in the past, I live in the futur, and I'm proud of my work,
and 26 year's after the finish my first game, I'still programmer , bad maybe ,
but still happy

Excuse for my bad english , I'learn with "Friends" ....and "Lost" now,

Alain Fernandes

Thanx Mr FERNANDES for your answer

It's bad new that Light quest is again licenced by UBI-SOFT.... (and French legal prescription about it is again longer )

Indeed I need source code of the main file to fix it and to try to finish it (more over our disk versions are some files damaged )

Well yes, seems Mr Fernandes will not co-operate and keep the source - which he obviously still HAS - behind his back! This sad news has to be accepted, no matter how hard it is to bear. Must be me who said months ago that people like Stéphane are very rare these days, co-operative as heck and even helpful with problems which might occur during the process of preserving / installing.
I hope that Mr Fernandes will sooner or later rethink his harsh viewpoint, but the chance of a reconception of his viewpoint seems very remote.

Hello,

All elements , graphics, source code , and computer ( Amstrad PC 286 and
NEC PC 9801 ) has send to Ubi-soft , during november 1991.
I'think is better to recreate the game, is more easy.( Or the new game
with the same "spirit" )

Last year I work on the "plateform" game, bigger than "Light Quest", and
I take just 10 weeks to programming the game.

It's more easy now too create the game, he have more tools, more informations...

I'think , is more insteresting to save the "released games" ... ( he have so many unreleased game....)

The game compagny keep the right of the old games, Nintendo keep the right of the old nes game, because he have new market for the old licenses ( Mobile, Interative TV, Games server )

Do you imagine the success, if the old "bitmap brothers" games is released on the N-Gage or others phones ?

Do you know the price of the license of the old the game ? ( Elite, Shadows of the Beast )
( 100 000 € for the classic old game / 1 000 000 € to the best game )

No any one game compagny , is not interesting by the conversion of the old games in the new devices ( Phone , TV , Game Server )...Be carreful with the "old" games.

CFOU, lightquest has been licenced before, and it's still the case....

OK, i guess i have to mail Laurent Cluzel about this. He has agreed and granted me the right
to get all the graphics, level design created by himself, plus the level editor.

We all agree here that we are talking about amiga version, not any ports on whatever else machine. The only concern we have on this forum is the amiga version.

Concretely, the rest doesn't concern the amiga communauty.

And to be right, NO games unreleased since now have been rewrote in anyway. the industry has always let rotten the forgotten games.

This stops when an author agree to put on the light the game.

PS : I know one of the Bitmap brothers, known as RJ the allmighty sound god. But all of their
games were sold and available on amiga. LightQuest has never been marketed on any machines.

And we had to leech the pictures in generation 4 magazine, to at last never get it....

I'll post here Laurent Cluzel answer to this...
