Yeah I know this is silly, but

Was Ninja gaiden or a similar game ever released on the Amiga?

I recall reading another post series once here which suggested that Ninja gaiden and Shadow warriors were the same games, thus I downloaded shadow warriors, but found they weren't the same I really liked Ninja gaiden. Was this ever released on the Amiga?

Superb question about a superb series of games from Tecmo, I believe. As far as I know, Tecmo never did any releases for the Amiga. Try NES emulation of NG 1-3. SNES emulation has a comilation of all 3 with enhanced graphics. i love NG!!

Not sure about this as I don't have the ADF of it at the moments, but you may want to have a look at Ninja Warriors.

I think it's like Ninja Gaiden if memory serves, but I now there IS a game like NG on the Amiga because I remember playing it not long back

Best version of Ninja Gaiden IMO is the Atari Lynx version

Update:// It's not Ninja Warriors that something completely different.

I still think there was a game like NG for the Amiga though.

Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword Of Chaos came out on the Amiga. I'm not sure about the first one.

I stand corrected. Of all the Ninja style games, amoung them Shinobi, Last Ninja series, ninja Warriors etc, Ninja Gaiden has a special place in my heart, having spent ages (and money) on them at the arcade on our boardwalk here.
It rarely seems to me that any Ninja type game is poor or weak. all have excellent staying power and individuality. Anyone here know of a badly produced Ninja type game on 8 or 16 bit platform?

Shadow Warriors = Ninja Gaiden

I think Shadow Warriors was released for ome computers, so there might be a meega version.

Agree with Ian, the Lynx version is superb! But I think my fave one os the PCE ver.

Ninja Spirit on Amiga. Ugly brownish graphics, impossible to play without trainer because the enemies keep running into the screen.

Well Akira. There's a big difference between shadow warriors (The version I got) and Ninja gaiden. I attach a picture of shadow warriors Amiga version. Ninja gaiden 1 is very much like Ninja gaiden 2 of which a pic was posted earlier.

I remember reading your posts in another thread but was greatly confused when i tried Shadow warriors and didn't play anything like Ninja gaiden. One thing is that you don't have a sword in Shadow warriors which is in Ninja gaiden.

I've played Ninja gaiden on the NES emulator, but don't have it right now so I can't really post a screenshot of Ninja gaiden 1.

As you might notice from the picture there's actually depth in the screen, a thing which isn't in Ninja gaiden

I see your problem. It's the NES version. its absolutely different to the arcade one. The pic you posted is just like Ninja Gaiden on the arcades. Screenies nicked from mame.dk:

< Ninja Gaiden

< Shadow Warriors

Ok it's the same pic, but mame.dk did the same! here's more info:

Quote:
game rom: shadoww.zip valid for mame from .36final to .55
parent rom: gaiden.zip
Uses roms from: gaiden
As you see, it's the same game. I suppose Ninja Gaiden 2 Amiga is a port of the NES game.

Could it be that Ninja Gaiden was renamed for Western markets to Shadow Warriors because I'm sure Ninja Gay-Den would have caused a few giggles in the arcades.

Kid 1: What game you playing, it looks good?
Kid 2: Ninja Gay-Den
Kid 1&3: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA your playing a game about gay ninja's HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't know about the "gay-den" thing, but it's surely amusing
(like Puckman that was renamed Pacman, as people in west would call it Fuckman)

but yeah, that's more or less the truth, Samurai Warriors in west is Ninja Gaiden in the east
And I believe Tecmo used the name Ninja Gaiden in their NES games because it was already a sucessfull game, and so people would buy it thinking it was an arcade conversion.

Big grin Mediocre ninja games

Fred(eric/ The Great), you wrote:

Well, on the C64, the "Ninja" is misused for many mediocre titles like Bionic Ninja, Ninja Hamster, Ninja Scooter and worst of all: BMX Ninja. This one from Codemasters must be one one of the worst titles I’ve ever played. In this game you are a kid on a BMX who must ‘destroy’ his opponent by flipping and bumping his BMX to cause damage points.

I remember BMX ninja. It was not really well done but somehow I actually spent time playing that game.

Another not too great ninja game would be Ninja rabbits. It just lacked something I think
