Is it me, or does that game look like it was inspired by Putty?

This looks like a mix between Superfrog and Putty. Me like. This could've been a pretty succesfull game if released back in the days. Would be mentioned among the best, I reckon.

Anyway, that's just the impression I got from watching the video. I will try the game soon myself.

You haven't played it yet...

It needs some serious tweaking to be amongst the best. The main problem being the characters jump. Whenever you jump, the screen follows you up too high, so the floor becomes invisible and you have no idea where you are going to land. This needs changing before I play it for any length of time.

The colours and artwork don't seem like they warrant an AGA chipset but that's just my opinion. (but it doesn't effect gameplay)

Killer: I agree about the control. I think it would have been far better to center the player on the screen at all times. The movement really is irritating.

As for the AGA chipset, that is required in this game because it's using dual playfield mode with 4 planes (2 x 16 = 32 colours total). ECS Amigas can only handle 2 playfields of 3 bitplanes (2 x 8 = 16 colours total) without sprite tricks for more. The graphics would have to change significantly to allow more colours, although with some nice copperlists you could do something.

The other reason it needs AGA is that the sprites (for the score) are wider than 16 pixels, a feature not available on OCS Amigas. There are tricks to get around it (reusing the same sprites like Parasol Stars score panel) but if it's AGA only I guess there's no need.

For some reason I went looking for this game again...

Seems as though it's still being updated (last update was 30th of November 2006)

Apparently it's 16 1/7 out of 17 3/4 complete!

They grind down the stuff you find inside beanbags and dry it out and use that.

What's happened to the game? I thought it was complete. I hope the author releases this game soon. We don't want this to end up on agtw, o.k?

It did get reviewed in Retro Gamer a while back and it got 88% I think. Though how they can review a game that isn't finished is beyond me...

This is not unusual. The Amiga Joker reviewed some games which wasn't released later than. I assume other mags done the same, to be the first out with a review.
