Why is Moonstone so rare and wanted?

Ok so I bought a copy of this game froma bootsale for £1 knowing it was quite rare. Then I got home and noticed one went on ebay for £60!

I put mine on ebay and its already gone to £20 with 6 days left!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ADME:B:LC:UK:1

I want to know why its so rare and why so many people want it for a high price. I mean it cant be that rare, I usually always see them on ebay, selling for high prices.

Heck I havnt even played on the game yet. So could someone please give me somebackground info on the game and why people want it so much?

Thanks

It's a rare game in Germany as it was banned due to the high gore level!!

As for why it is so popular outside Germany I have no idea!

On an unrelated note, how rare / sought after is the Phazer Light gun for Amiga? I got one this weekend. I can only think of POW and Capone that works with it - but are there any other games?

Anyone bidding on it outside of Germany thinks - or read somehwere, possibly on another ebay auction - it is rare, while it is not.
It is part of the amiga collector folklore I guess, as many people are not aware of location based rarity of things
Anyway, good luck with it

I think it is so rare because it is for a commodore amiag computer...
" Amiga Game **Moonstone** @RARE!!@ (amiag, commodore) "

Keropi, I added in amiag because this is a common mispelling of amiga, so if anyone types that typo my item will show up, commodore is added for same reason just to get more hits. And I added @RARE!!@ for a laugh in an attempt to get some stupid people to buy it.

I type amiag all the time when im typing quickly...

Well, how many ignorants buys amiga games these days? I'm pretty certain that at least 85% of the buyers know what they're buying.

Happy

I also think some buyers feel Ebay like a big game where they can win if their bids are high enough

And the auction is now on 29 GBP and still four days to go

I don't own an Amiga since 2 years back, I gave it to my sister. I rather use Winuae as it is faster, has lots of chip and fast mem etc.

But I would really like to have the original of Moonstone as I love that game, and as I'm getting even more closer to the game now when I'm working on a Moonstone Sequal. I don't bother bidding on it, but if someone would stand next to me selling the game or live not that far away, I could easy offer 50 EUR for it, or more.

Dull as dishwater! You just pleb around, I thought the opening sequence was good though! But you just kind of shunt around a small area, attempting to hit stuff with your sword. Its bad, really bad!

No offense, but here is what I think. I think you suck at playing these sort of games. You started the game up and played for a few minutes, and as you sucked, you died fast over and over again - which of course explains why you hate the game.

OR, you are one of those non-retrogame fans that only like great up to date PC games with 32 bits graphics and requires at least 512mb to run.

However, if you like old games and dont go by graphics (I think the graphics in MS are gorgeous, love pixels), but by playability and feeling, Moonstone rules. I suggest you watch the recorded video of the game on my page.

Moonstone rules!

At the age of 16, I had no problem completing this game, didn't use the cheat.

Nope, I like both new games (Battlefield 2 ) and the old games (apidya)

Quite frankly this game is nothing special, and I do suck at it but that doesnt change the fact that you shunt around a small screen hitting a pixelated rat.

I only suggested him to watch the movie of Moonstone so he could see some of the coolest things in the game, which he missed by only playing a few minutes and against the most boring enemy, those jumpers. What I mean is that he hasnt seen anything and didn't give the game a decent chance.

And Apidiya doesn't have repetative gameplay???

You're absolutely right to have your own opinion about Moonstone, but calling it "nothing special" is just plain wrong. This game is VERY special, there's still no game out there quite like it. Besides, the best part of the game is the multiplayer aspect, and the feeling of competition to be the knight who saved the world.

And it's not THAT hard. Once you learn all the moves, and the strategy to beat the different kinds of monsters, it's fairly easy to complete. And of course, getting the better equipment also makes the game more enjoyable.

Still, you're right to have your own opinion, but I think you should give it some more time before forming one. It's a tough game to get into, and you'll die fairly quickly the first time you play it. But once you know the basics and survive long enough to get some better weapons and armor and upgrade your stats (which you do by winning the fights and spend your poolpoints - or whatever they're called, can't remember - to upgrade your stats) it's not so hard to finish the game after a few tries. And by having four people play one knight each, you won't have to worry about the black knights either.

I remember playing that Game whole nights with 2 Friends.
Moonstone

Though it DID always crash late in the Game ( and we still played it over and over - speaks alot for the game ) and I cant remember finishing it once.

Maybe alot people want to buy Moonstone because they think the crashes came from cracks/bad copies ? I know I was lookin for it exactly because of that

If he doesn't like the game then he don't like it.. simple!!

Don't make assumptions that everybody is the same. Just because you like the game doesn't mean others have too!

He said "Anyway I cant play on it again because its packaged up in bubble wrap" so I said "If you have a PC there is something called Winuae and adfs.".. so your post doesnt sound right "He doesn't like the game, he doesn't want to play it on Amiga or on his PC with WinUAE and ADF's".

My post makes perfect sense!

Smiley stated on various occasions throughout this thread that he doesn't like moonstone!

He stated he can't play again because it is bubble wrapped, but seeing as he doesn't like the game it's simple enough to summise that he doesn't want to play it with WinUAE either!

Also if he so wanted he could hunt down the PC verison of the game and play it using Dosbox... do you think he wants to?
