What Joysticks are you guys using with emulators ?

My upgraded A1200 is my only computer. And of course I like playing
games But I still can use my Competition Pro digital joystick
(the fu***ing best stick ever made!) for Amiga and C64 gaming needs.

What are you guys that are emulating C64/Amiga on your PC using as
a joystick ? are there some decent *digital* sticks that are
comparable to a Competition Pro or any other decent and *precise*
stick out there ?

I'm happy with my Saitek X6-32M joypad.

I bought another one after my last one wore out. And that is a vote of confidence.

They don't last as long as these old classics, but this one works perfectly and feels good.

I use a lowly Interact Pirahna gamepad. It works with every emu I have, beautifully. Except SNES 9x. I don't know why, but it wont work well and act very quirky on the gampad setup. For games requiring a True joystick, I use my Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback.

I like Snes9x alot better too- I get much better performance. Then again, I own a 3dfx card, and Snes 9x uses that to smooth out the graphics abit, so maybe that's a reason?

I haven't invested in a joystick or joypad for my PC as of yet, but I've always thought that the Gravis Exterminator and Eliminator at least look cool, even though they are a little old these days. Don't know about performance, though.

The controller I use is

PC SWIFT PAD JT266 LOGIC 3

The strange thing it that it runs better in emulation than in PC games.

E.G.
When playing some pc games it seems to want to go left all the time which is a pain. This never happens in Winuae. It is calibrated as it should be but has a wobble on the test page.

I tried other pads which nether worked as they would not calibrate, the only one that works with my Packard Bell is the one above. The other pads worked fine on someone elses PC which is not a Packard Bell.

Packard Bell -----><----- Paul

Hmm, I use a crappy 2 button affair that came with the computer, a crappy 8 button affair that came with my omputer and a Gravis Xterminator, which is unbeatable for N64 emulation (Unless of course you use a real N64 controller)

I use the thing which I think works best. Many of the analog joysticks you get for the PC just don't work right with emulators because it's too easy to press other directions and too hard to go one direction only so I use the superb "Keyboard" emulation.

@s4murai:
I used to have a Gravis Gamepad and Gravis Gamepad Pro as well. But I could never get the latter's PlayStation like button-setup to work with most games . I do remember trying it out with PSEmuPro a few times though.

Yeah, right now I would be using my new Sidewinder Gamepad, except I keep having this frickin' error with the configuration panel where it can't seem to find "necessary support files", whatever the hell they are. Anyone with a serious solution to this problem? Go on, there MUST be a solution. There's always a solution to everything, isn't there? (Unless the myth is untrue, dammit. )

I tried building a SNESKey/DPadPro-type interface. I failed But hey, a lot of people got it to work, so give it a try.

I've been told you have to try with different types of diodes. That should do the trick.

BTW teh oldest the PC the better for this interface.

I loathe analogue joysticks, they are terrible.

My favourite joystick would be the sadly discontinued Multicoin Starcursor, which was based on coin-op hardware. I wonder if there is an IBM-PC equivalent of this.

Competition Pros for PCs were the SAME as the Amiga ones, but included a special interface )a digital to analogue converter, I presume). This is explained in the box of my Sompetition Star Extra.

I Assume you can use a lot of oldschool Amiga joysticks with this interface YOu can build one yoruslef, where were the docs or this? damn.
