BEOS was never a front runner, at least Amiga OS had a following with alot of systems running and was sold for almost a decade.

The funny thing about that article is that while a few people marveled at what BEOS could do (just like they drool over a pcture of a ferrari in the magazines), they would always go out and buy something else more practicle (Windows, Unix, Linux).

He was being tongue in cheek.
It's well known amoung car enthusiasts that cubans, beacuase of and despite the embargo we americans have crushed them with the past 40 years, have lovingly and ingeniously preserved old american classic cars.

Here we see an amzing contraption used by some cuban refugees trying to cross the dangerous florida strait to get to America. Old car rigged as a boat.
