Also - would've loved to see an updated version of Drol - another 8-bit favorite of mine.

Starquake (mentioned previously) played this a silly amount on my old Zx48k.
Also Quasatron (similar to Paradroid) although I still like Paradroid 90.

galactic empire would ha been great, from the atari 800. this game in basic had incredible depth and is still playable today, despite its ascii gui.

What do you think are the three greatest (most fun, still playable today) pre-Amiga (1985 or earlier) games that have never been converted/cloned/copied in any form for the Amiga.

Here's my top 3:

1. Montezuma's Revenge (specifically Atari 800 selectable level version without animated title screen) - I just played this game again with the ACE emulator and it is as fun and as playable as the best of the Amiga platform games. It would have been awesome if they made an Amiga version with more screens and levels to explore while still keeping the "feel" (and non-scrolling). I would have bought a copy for sure back in 1990.

2. Rescue on Fractalus (Atari 800 version is best) - This was amazing for its time and would have looked even better on the Amiga. There are lots of 3D shoot-em-ups on the Amiga, but none where you have to land and rescue guys (who could be aliens in disguise!).

3. Blue Max (not to be confused with the Amiga "Blue Max" flight sim) - This could be considered a scrolling shoot-em-up, but it's more fun than most and would have been one of the best on the Amiga.
IIRC Trailblazer for Amiga do have an intro which is basicaly the terrain engine of Rescue On Fractalus, maybe a port was planned... Kamel

Another good one would be a conversion of The Eidolon which was basically the Rescue On Fractalu engine turned upside down. Many fond memories of getting twatted by dragons

dead link I suppose you meant loriciel.net But I agree, I think the Amstrad version looked better. Kamel

Pole Positin on C64
Uridium on C64
Pitstop 2 on C64

All good games, I know that Adrew Braybrook did uridim 2 on the Miggy

How about a challenge to Coders to produce a conversion of the other two?

I am not sure if they have been ported. If u take the challenge pls make it an AGA version.

Schreckenstein is a fantastic 2 players action packed cooperative game on Atari 800.
On top of that the animation and the scrolling are very smooth.
You have to pick up some items and put them elsewhere.
Monsters can steal you the item and some levels have a sorcerer you need to kill sometimes.
When all objects are done, you have to find a key and the exit.
You have to hurry up to finish the level because your life goes down all the time.
Friendly fire can even hits the other player. And when someone dies, he's turned into a vampire (computer controlled).

Why such a game has never been ported?

Anyway, my choices:

Choplifter, Karateka, and The Oregon Trail, on the Apple II

Combat!, on the Atari 2600

Attack of the Mutant Camels, Blaster, Fort Apocalypse, Spelunker, Zeppelin, and the Lucasfilm/Atari "fractal trilogy", on the Atari 800

Dragon's Den, Raid on Bungeling Bay, Space Taxi, and the Forbidden Forest games, on the C64

Atic Atac, Deathchase, I, of the Mask, and Jetpac, on the ZX Spectrum

Argo Navis, on the CPC

Gradius, Joust, Robotron, and lots of other arcade games that I can't remember at the moment.

Cauldron II : great c64 game. I loved controling that pumpkin !

Staff of Karnath : another great C64 game i loved to play.

Entombed : the sequel of the previous game. Both had Sir Arthur Pendragon as main char.

Mandragore : not sure if this one existed outside of France, it was a great C64 RPG with 11 dungeons, each on one face of a cassette ! . It got the first place on "arcade" prize on 1984 in France (it was not an arcade game at all lol).

Two great C-64 games. Legacy of the ancients and Legacy of Blackthorn, These games were unrivaled on any other platform at the time. I would have loved to see a 'Amiga' versions of these games.
