@Shoonay - Yep Dungeon Master many hours of fun. Remembering hacking away at the Rock Monsters for ages...then later realising a better solution was to cast the poison bolt at them. Those Scorpions looked great. I hated the Serpents, they were fast. Soooo....Shoonay...When is Rock not Rock? Even I remember some of the puzzles. or....I arch yet I have no back? Best RPG.

Captive - My Second favourite.
Eye of the Beholder 1 - third Favourite.

Others:

Might & Magic 2 - Many Many Hours....
Might & Magic 3 - Looked Great, requiring 2MB ram to run PROPERLY.
Crystal Dragon - One of the last RPG games to come out.
Black Crypt - Liked the intro music, good game.
Wizardry VI - The kinky Queen :-)
Eye of the Beholder II - Pretty good.

RPGs is my least favourite genre, I really can't stand to keep clicking on "ATTACK" and wait til an enemy dies, and in case of most amiga RPGs, wander helplessly in a dungeon where all walls look the same. I find them to be boring and no interesting at all.

After saying that, on Amiga the only RPG I enjoyed was Heimdall 2, so this gotta be my fav game of this genre on Amiga

Mmm Nethack! And thats because long long ago I got my introduction to roguelikes on my A500, just can't remember what it was exactly. Hack? Rogue itself? I really can't stand most commercial RPGs, they're just not juicy enough and the idea that milions have done exactly the same in the game gives me smelly feet and stuff..
Now on closer scrutiny I do count among those who find Nethack itself a bit silly, so make that the ADOM port for the Amiga. But thats just because there's no Dungeoncrawl port for the Ami..

I played EOB a bloody lot, so probably yeah that must be it.
But I probably spent countless hours on The Fairy Tale - I know, it isn't a proper RPG, but it had many elements and of course a wonderful main theme that kept me glued to the screen walking for hours having NO idea of what I was supposed to do.
The most clueless - yet amazing - game ever
and when I was in high school a friend of mine gave me a version of that same game where you could summon a golden swan just pressing a key (I think it was "b") - preventing random encounters and so on.
Too bad I kept dying of starvation.

Hmm for me right now it would have to be one of

perehelion (cool sci fi not very well known)
Dark Queen of Krynn (best of this era D&D style game I think)
or Eye of the Beholder (got soooo ingrossed in this)

I would have to say the following were my all-time favorites:

Eye of the Beholder
Black Crypt
Dungeon Master
Crystal Dragon

All 4 were quality

The best RPG in terms of graphics and sound is Ishar 3, but the most "complete" RPG, available for the Amiga is ADOM. You can find it on aminet.

EoB 1 & 2 Rulez!!! Hero Quest is also one of my favourites but it does'nt have the same depth as the EoB series.

Eye of the beholder 2.
I still remember finally finding the horn of winds or something on the ant level where you couldn't sleep anywhere, half of my party dead or dying form poison. great stuff!

And then backing up all the way only to find that the nice wall was a gate

Still while the amiga was good.. It couldn’t hold a candle to PC RPGs.. (ok most of them are evolutions of the old games) Ultima underworld, ultima black gate, Baldurs gate 2, planetfall, knights of the old republic, systemshock 1 & 2 (ok not strictly RPG).

The RPGs really evoled in a great way with CD/DVD, when disc space wasn’t such a problem anymore.. speech and moody music was a blessing for that genere..

Did you play the English version or the German version?

I am glad I managed to get Erik to send me the unreleased English disks to Ambermoon before they disappeared.
