so, can anybody comment on this? How did they get the rights? Did they? I think they're venturing into lawsuit land if they didn't. So much for strict german laws...

itīs really legal:

jürgen beck and a former member of ocean france searched this game and reached to release it on the actual mag...

the old mag "amiga games" didnīt reached to publish this game times ago...

but i donīt now if it is legal to put it here in the zone, because it is specially for readers of this mag...

Seems odd, is the game specially licensed to the magazine from a certain publisher or owner? Or is the game as illegal/legal as any other professional release?

That doesn't make it legal, the original copyright owners (TAITO!) surely did not aprove this. I dont even think anybody who bought the rights off ocean france would allow this.

So Atari (infogrames aka ocean) gave permission, right? They are perfectly contactable you see, and rest assured they wouldn't.
Just in case someone thought the copyright expired with Ocean vanishing from the face of the Earth.
Just being evil, ignore me and enjoy LK - and posting it into the zone is as much legal as is anything else

I wouldn't talk from an "official release". In my opinion an official or real release is if I can buy a game in stores. For me it's a nice gift for a small amount of readers, who aren't familiar with emulators. The Amiga Plus magazine is only available via subscription and the amount of sold copies is very small. Also the CD containing Liquid Kids must be ordered separately, so even less people will see the game than there are readers. It's a magazine for the last of a couple of freaks from a small community. The time where you could earn money with an Amiga magazine has long gone.

Two or three months ago there was the full version of Another World on their CD. I can remember that Eric Chahi didn't want to give permission to put his game onto the CD of a commercial magazine. After he heard how many issues are sold, he agreed immediately (and Amiga Plus is todays most popular Amiga print magazine as far as I know. So you can guess how many readers there are).

The article about Lost Games mentions EAB, aGTW, HOL and BTTR. Cody Jarrett and some Amiga programmers like Joe Karthauser (Cardiaxx) tell some interesting facts about lost games and superhero The Wolf has been interviewed.

Sounds strange coming from the "100% legal" man himself

I'm just looking at potential trouble and playing a bit of devil's advocate here. Regardless of how many copies you sell of the CD, you are obtaining profit from a game you do not own the IP, no matte rhow low. It is as pirate as it comes IMO. If I copy my original to a friend for no money, I'm still pirating it, without gaining any profit. As IFW said is as legal as putting it in the Zone so get uploading

Not that I care but I wouldn't like to see the ONLY amiga mag still in town that I like to have problems because of one game...

I doubt anyone will care, as has been stated the circulation is so small and you have send off for the CD, so more people are probably going to download a game from the Zone then actually get there hands on the CD.

If 'Retro' or somesuch placed it on their cover then things may be different. I look forward to leeching it from somewhere

Just as no one woul care about 20+ year old gaems on the net?

I wouldn't dare to say this is legal anyway, let's be honest. No justifications. I'm just surprised to see something like this coming out of Germany.

But who is going to care? And would they bother to sue? Where is the money in it?

I'm just wondering if this is the original, bug-ridden ADF that Wolf found, or the enhanced WHDload verison by Codetapper? Can anybody tell?
