Retro Gamer: Two New Editions

Walking through WHSmith today looking for the latest New Statesman I can across two new editions of Retro Gamer.

One is a 2004 annual seemingly comprising the last year's editions. At 260-odd pages it costs 9.99

There is also another blue covered Anthology at 7.99. About half the size of Annual. Didn't really get a good look at it although there were about twenty of them and only one Annual.

They seem a little pricey to me but if someone wants a copy and can't get hold of one they know where to go.

The 9.99 magazine called 'Retro' with front cover looking like first issue of zzap or crash is actually by the same people who produce GamesTM.

The Retro Gamer Anthology is 7.99 and has only been out a couple of days..

However, in my local WHSmith all the copies of Retro Gamer Anthology are really badly put together. Every 10 pages or so, 6 of the pages are stuck together where the machine has not cut the pages properly. So check before you buy! (Im taking my copy back for a refund at the weekend.)

I see this issue has a remake cd! (The mag is imported here in the states and sells out in the Barnes & Noble i go to).
Maybe we should collect and make images of these cds? I think it's free to distribute, as the games are not theirs to control. I have the current and previous issues (Graftgold, Konex system etc). How about we do that?

Retro Gamer is a great mag, but I wish they'd have more interesting stuff on their cover discs. It's not that I don't like remakes, but I'd rather look for them online and only download the ones that look interesting, instead of getting a shovelware compilation of 50 remakes in the mail every month.

I much prefer discs with interesting videos on (like the Konix stuff, that was cool) or commercial software like the Graftgold collection or BASS (& FOTAQ). The disc with C64 remixes was great too.

Anyway, I ordered the anthology a good while ago, but it usually takes ages for Retro Gamer stuff to reach me (like 20 days or something), so I'm not expecting it until after christmas. I missed the early issues of the mag, so I'm looking forward to it
