Is aminet dead?

I've checked the deutsch and USA sites frequently for the last 4 months and not 1 file seems to have been posted! (Recently added files). Is Aminet dead or am I mistaken?

Eek Aminet is NOT DEAD However

http://us.aminet.net/ is now the only link I have been able to use for quite a while

So it seems there has been some sort of disaster in the mirror network and if you check the the posts from other members on this subject you will find extra details of this

Hope you find the above link useful and don't give up the Amiga and Aminet are not dead just resting

What a lose that would be. If it did go down i hope others would host it elsewhere...

Yes they work, but jjsmith is right. The recent link shows no updates.

You can upload if you want to main.aminet.net but there aren't no recent files on any of the mirrors. What is going on? So, is Aminet dead? Can anyone tell?

Look what i am doing to access the recent Aminet files. I am using Mozilla firefox and the FireFTP extension. I connect to the Aminet and i can see the new files and download if i want to or upload anything very easily.

I'm afraid it is effectively dead since no one is maintaining it, if you log in with FTP you can look in pub/new and see the uploads which have not been reviewed there since September.

So you can still download the old stuff but no new stuff is being added by the maintainers. And AmiRepo uploads don't work yet, so uploaders are in a quandry :-(

Us aminet seems to have recent uploads but if you check carefully you can see: "These are that last 7 days' uploads sorted by age as of 14-Nov-2003. "

Plus Urban Müller's page is gone too.

Now I wonder how large aminet is and am trying to develop mass leeching methods before it's gone

I just copy:

Hello, everyone. I'm mailing a short list of people who had been mailing in asking about the status of the Aminet mirror.

At the current point, we've drug out what we had off of tape backup from the original Wuarchive, and are restoring it to the new machine right now. It'll probably take some time, and I do not have an ETA. You'll see it in it's usual location under FTP (/pub/aminet) when it's complete.

Go ahead and notify your community links that it will be coming back up, and also whomever runs the mirrors from Wuarchive that they ought to start working again.

Don't hesitate to email me directly for any additional configuration-type issues the community may have.
