Had to shed a tear on this thread... so many old names, like old school friends i grew up with... fairlight was always there like a best m8, paradox seemed always to be at my house too with the cyclone II Fdisk dongle.... *sniff* i miss those guys...

at times i would see skidrow, we would share a few times together but hey, they was always busy... but i could count on crystal to bring it on home.. *snif sniff* such good days... me and my best friends... even if they didn`t know whom i was and never met me....

left me with this from MELON

takes GUTS to HACK but BRAINS to CRACK!!!!!

*taps chest* right there with ya guys.....

The group I remember most back in the days was that of Fairlight, that ingenious little intro was so memorable.
Those guys sure were talented!

Any that doesn't leave a pretentious and pointless demo at the start of the game, especiallu on that you can only get out of by pressing some random key that they state at the end of their lists of "big ups"

yeah those intros suck arse, I think the melon one on the CryStaL crack of SF2, was like that, you had to wait for the first page to display before you could smash the left mouse and exit it, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, CryStal were the main problem I remember. On one disk they have 4 pages of shout outs to their friends and something about a group meet, then on the final page they told us the keys to get off the demo. This was alright for subsequent use, but the first time it was irritating.
There's others where you have to continually click the left mouse button to skip through the pages of bouncing text to get to the end.

Now why would I want to do a silly thing like that?

On some of them you can get rid of the demo by editing the startup-sequence, anyway.

I remember one of them having really good rendition of Popcorn and another did the 1812 Overture with some animal samples if I remember right.

That's a thought, Popcorn and Axel F were usually the songs newbie modders made, so do you think the chimps behind the recent Crazy Frog songs are disgruntled Amiga owners?

I think you're on to something there Shrub. The version of Popcorn from the Crazy Frog sounds very familiar of a version I once had on my Amiga.

One thing I don't understand is that cracktros advertised bbs's, I thought the police would of arrested the sysops arses.

Or what that 'disclaimer' before you log on, get's them out of trouble ?

Or B), The police were to dumb to use computers ? (no offence Galahad/X police member)
