Very nicely done ! Looking forward for all maps

Great game... a worthy succesor to The Great Escape, albeit it could use a bit more variety (especially in the constant usage of the keys).

Many years ago i drew (by hand) almost complete maps of this game. There are places that don't need to be visited, just collect the uniforms and papers for all men and then go for the exit at the bottom right. Man this game was frustrating at times .

Does anyone know how to shoot with the gun that you can find in the game? . It would be nice to pop a cap or two on some guard's head

Maybe kill ALL the guards

bamiga2002: i found RIFLE today can you tell me more about this? what for we need PASS then? EXIT IS BOTTOM RIGHT and THERE'S LOT OF PLACES THAT DON'T HAVE TO BE VISITED -> biiig *TRUE*. have you got some dawnings now? can you try to find it?

this game have something inside - i said to me: to the end of my life i have to finish it (now i am just 26 - i have lot of time). previously i searched on the internet for the map of this game, but i haven't found! it's strange - am i first?

btw: i am working all-the-time; second preview:

@jamamoto: i don't know how to shoot the rifle, i have found it too (i think i found 2 of those). You need the pass if you get caught with the uniform on so you won't end up in a prison cell. I think 1 or 2 per man should do it when making the final run for freedom. I don't think i have the drawings anymore, or alot of them are missing. One thing is for sure: the church is worth visiting, check every nook & cranny

I remember this game well even tho I hardly played it. Looked great but was quite tough.

I'd love to see maps, maybe some manual and walkthru on your website.

I would have expected that the maps would correspond to REAL maps of Colditz but perhaps they don't but I am curious to know.

hope the website is not to much confused for you becaouse of polish language.

@methanoid: the small part of manual (but enough for the begin) is already on my site (ENG). after I put all the maps I want to write walkthrough about the game (how really quick finish the game!). i draw all the maps by myself - they are real in what you can see on the game.

VERY nice site... jeez, you Poles are all Amiga crazy it seems. So you are over here in london now?

Any chance of an English and a Polish page rather than the two mixed together?

@Bamiga2002: can be *REALLY HELPFULL*, but I don't know how to do this (I used Amiga looong time ago). is there someone who can do this, becaouse cheats typed from keyboard not working for me

@Methanoid: yep, I am living in London since 2001 English and Polish page can be separately, but it's a lot of work. Maybe is the other way - bold or underline something, to be better recognised... I don't know.

The first yard and it's surroundings are easier to explore by putting one of the prisoners in the tight upper corner and luring the guards with another prisoner to catch him (but they won't, they just stand there ). But don't move that dude a bit after that, 'cause the guards will instantly shoot him down . And sometimes an "innocent" wanderer is shot also .

Hey anyone know how to use the rifle ?

Small bit of trivia: Bjorn told me that they used his music on the title screen without permission and he never got paid anything for it. First he knew about it was when he loaded the game.

@FromWithin: i have pack of 3 mod's from the game - it will be posted on my site shortly. it's very sad what you talking about - maybe it was possible before (on 199x's) - i hope not now.

Carl, are you sending PM's to all EAB members asking for a map of the game, or am I just lucky today? I'd gladly upload the map if I had it, but since I don't, better luck elsewhere.

I managed to get hold of an original copy of escape from colditz and there is no mention of the gun in the manual. It just says that all items can be used by pressing fire. However it does say that how far you throw the stone is how long you hold the fire button down.

Just so you know, I have now created a working game engine of Escape From Colditz for Windows and PSP.

You can access it at http://sites.google.com/site/colditzescape/

Oh, and since I pretty much completely reverse engineered the game, I can provide some goodies, like a complete rendered exterior map, or details about what the rifle or stone actually do (rifle: nothing, stone: sets guards back to walking when thrown during a running pursuit)...

Enjoy!

Aha! So that's why I had to fix some of the tunnel exit offsets when I implemented them...

Confirmed that bug in the original version (but it doesn't exist in mine! )
