A1200+Samba+Diskmaster keeps me sane.

Once every week or so I back my entire filesystem up to one of the PC's on my LAN. Not only can I then backup to CD, I also have a nice snapshot of my 1200 system to take with me on my laptop.

I had a Miniscribe SCSI die on me a few years ago that had a bunch of source I was working on on it, kind of ticked me off, but that's pretty much it for disk crashes. My advice is to replace hard drives after 10 years or so.
