WinUAE + Real HDD + SFS Guide

I put together a guide of how to install SFS within WinUAE with a real HDD from my experiences at doing it the other day. Ooh it was fun. It was for the guys at amigagames but I thought I should post it here, maybe it could be tinkered with and added to the FAQ or something?

Here it is anyway, feel free to edit it if needs be. Just thought it may be of use to someone.

EDIT: Guide now available here: http://wiki.abime.net/amiga:killergo...winuae_realhdd

Superb work and a great idea to include it in the FAQ

Sure thing mate, just make sure you watermark it with the words:

PROPERTY OF KILLERGORILLA

Just kidding, feel free to use it, that's what I wrote it for!

Hope it's useful!

Add SHOWRECYCLED to the format command. Recycled dir is a great SFS feature!

Burseg - Did that start out as a Harddrive upgrade and end up as an ash tray?

I've been pointed out a little mistake....

Near the very bottom the sentence that says:

Open a command window by pressing WindowsKey+E In the following box type Work:SFSformat drive HD0: name DriveName (replace drivename with the name you want the drive to be labelled)

The bit in bold should say

DH0:

If you could update this on the FAQ, and on this thread once you've done that!

I've updated the FAQ but I can't edit posts in this part of the forum.

I've updated the wiki slightly to reflect the newer versions of SFS, the new aminet address and a slight error with SFSformat needing capital letters for it's switches.

Hi,

I made a small change to your brilliant guide to show how to pass the uaehf.device on the command line, and prevent writing the disk definitions back to the floppy (saves the original state of the workbench disk and means you don't have to make it writeable).

I tried to get SFS installed myself and never managed to get it working so THANKS!

hehehe .

I'm also planning a guide on how to clean an already formatted (by windows) CF card, so that WinUAE will recognise it as an empty disk, which might apply to harddisks now that I think about it...

That was a hell of an adventure...
