Visa röster...

...is a vocal sixtet which includes Mahoney (yes, THE Mahoney) and they're performing C64-tunes a capella...

...and I'll be there, btw... Hope to see some more of you guys!

This would be much more interesting if, for live acts, they have artists like Goto80 or firestARTer, instead of this bollocks. Press Play On Tape is pathetic, and that "make C64 tunes a capella" stuff is just... hilarious. But I rather see a sitcom and have more fun :P

Goto80 uses real C64s to make real music. 1000x better

Have you ever seen Press Play On Tape live? No? Shut up then. They are quite excellent.

I have heard what they do and I do not like it at all.

I happen to find much more interesting the works by these other guys than what PPPoT do.

Have you heard Goto80 live? No? shut up then.

Heh. 11th September.
Nice date they chose.
(maybe to ensure that no Americans are on location at this day? )

Did I say anything bad about Goto80? I made no judgment whatsoever. You, however, said PPOT were pathetic. They started out as a live band; their primary reason for existing is to be a live band. The CDs are effectively just a side effect of that. You shouldn't make a judgment until you've seen them under those circumstances. The "more interesting" comment is a much better and more reasoned response.

Because of my geographical location there is no chance to hear them "in the flesh", but a recording of one of their live sets is enough for me to know how they are.

*I* happen to find their work overrated by nostalgia (much like what happens with Rob Hubbard), and *I* happen to find these events a missed opportunity to showcase more artists that are in my opinion much more related to the old computers, and much more interesting as well. I know my words use to be harsh, sorry about that, call me "opinionated" if you will. Maybe I should have said "poor"? It's not a great band, in my opinion, I'm surprised you think so, given your musical background.

What would be so bad if you think Goto80 is shit? My reply was issued in the same way as yours so you see the free attack I received. I didn't mean to attack you with my comment about PPoT

The point is, it's nostalgia, and its fun. If it's not your idea of fun, then fine.... goto a Goto80 gig... not to sound harsh or anything, promise.

I know exactly what PPOT are... and like it for what it is.. no more... (promise)....

Just been on Goto's site.. interesting... but hardly breaking talent either... Wouldn't look very exciting live methinks ! ? ! ??

His live show is amazing, let me tell you. And much more exciting than 5 guys trying to perform old C64 choons on their instruments.
IN MY OPINION
(ok? )

So the Sound Engineer should have been killed. Dreadful he was. Same one as at Brighton. PPOT were excellent and funny as usual. Mark Knight (TDK) put on a brilliant performance with SID80's. Ben Daglish was mental again (in a good way). C64 Mafia were most amusing. Very unexpected. Highlight of the show for me (equal to Mark, anyway )had to be Visa Roster doing the a capella stuff. It was absolutely stunning. Stunning, I tell you.

The VS stuff was totally superb. I dunno if they were heard in Spellbound though.. Have big plans for that track for the future... and of course... the famous Russian Theme/Rasputin.

Cheers for the kind words Mike, good to see you again
