Thumbs up Lotus Deux

Which game you prefer really depends on whether you want to race on standard tracks & become first of the bunch, or wanna ride against a time limit. Since I like the last one, I vote Lotus II. It also loads fast and comes on one disk.
Lotus I I never played on my original Amiga and Lotus III is more a remix of I and II. Also the tunes you can select from the radio in III were crap compared with the tunes in Jaguar XJ 220 - a game released 2 months earlier.

Lotus, the first one. The 2-player mode is just brilliant. Lotus 2 was all that Outrun should have been. For 1-player, L2 was amazing. However: I still prefer L1 even for 1-player, it's more challenging.
Has anyone noticed this little thing I remember after all these years? In L1, 1-player mode, the scrolling is great and super-smooth. But when 2-player mode is engaged, the scrolling sufferred just a tiny bit enough to spoil some of the 'wow' factor present in 1-player mode...
And L3 was a complete disappointment, I can't even compare it to the Turrican 3 disappointment, because that was actually a good game. L3 wasn't.

Lotus 3

just had a more professional feel to it.. and the two player against my bro and m8s was awsome... that is untill JagXj220...

Damn Jag got abused.... and i mean REALLY abused

However both suffered from serious lack of AI, infact both games and atleast the longegevity was crippled because of it.

kinda wained a bit from racing games for a while then got adicted again on F1 Grand Prix.... see now that was an awsome game...

an a12 with 8mb fast ram runing in NTSC (just to get the frames per sec man!!!!) ... what a game... F1 GrandPrix (thats the polygon one)

may have to fire these old games up later today me thinks....

Lotus 2 was the best all round version. Lotus 3 with its RECS thingy was simply Lotus 2.1, and I dont like track editors and the like, smacks of laziness or the lack of ability to come up with new ideas.

Lotus 2 all the way. I think this game is the reason my Amiga died, I played it to much.

Sorry to bump an incredibly old thread but I thought this was quite fitting at the moment seeing as I'm heavily into Lotus 3 again. (And anyway, a lot of newer members have probably never seen this thread...)

It's definitely my favourite game in the series; loads of options and tracks, and that bizarre track "editor", though for me I used to have loads of fun just typing in random words or friends' names in and seeing what tracks came out of it

I like Lotus 1 too, though I don't like playing half-screen in one-player mode. I'm not too keen on Lotus 2 I must admit, I can't quite put my finger on why; I don't think it's a bad game but maybe there's not quite as much to it as there is to number 3.

Lotus 3 COULD have been better than Lotus 2, but it's let down by the missing samples in Lotus 2 and the gameplay speed. I don't know what happened in the transition from Lotus 2 to Lotus 3 speedwise, but Lotus 3 is much slower in scrolling than Lotus 2, which was playing, i'd say, almost perfectly .

I like both Lotus 1 & 2, but i choose Lotus 2 (or i chose 2 years ago).

@Tony
That is why I voted for Lotus 2. It is a far better party game.

All very well if you've got two Amigas to link up to play four players isn't it

its between lotus 2 and 3 for me.

3 has my favourite music, and i think it plays nicely... varied tracks, etxtra gubbins etc.

however 2, as was mentioned, has the fantastic 4 player mode, so probably pips it for me on that alone.

although i cant stand the fog level, and there isnt enough variation with tracks/difficulties etc.

Not imho if you include link-up which puts Lotus 2 in front I think. Also, you only ever use half a screen (even in one player mode) in Lotus 1 which is a shame.

Some tracks in 3 seemed impossible to get 1st in on hard mode! Liek wind track Ž_Ž and maybe the last future track!
