1...I have read this now doesnt need registering....Does this mean there is a freely available version without the advert on loading ????

2...Im having problems setting it up ( succeeded but a mess so i need to start again ) Is there an auto installer for the whole thing...OR...a good tutorial ?? And where

Thats pretty much it really .....Now i know a lot of you swear by this but i havent used it b4 and the dvd need a really packed workbench so please reply

1. The version you have is the free version. The advert is there to convince you to register. You shouldn't need convincing though... go out there and register it!

2. Not entirely sure what you mean here... All you need to do is download the whdload package from www.whdload.de and install it in workbench. After that it's just a matter of

A. Installing the games using the corresponding installer for each game using original disks (real amiga)

B. Installing the games using the corresponding installer for each game using CAPS Images (WinUAE)

C. Download the full games installs and unpack them to a directory and run!

Bear in mind that some games (very few) do not work without registering.

There is a great whdload tutorial with a LOAD of info on whdload if you look in the FAQ section of the site. (If you are lazy just click here... http://eab.abime.net/faq.php?faq=hdg...q_cody_whd_faq)

Don't put the keyfile on the DVD it'll mean anyone can steal it and use it to reg their copy of whdload. THIS IS BAD. WHDload people won't be happy about that!

If you want to do something to make the splash go away then try adding:

SplashDelay=0

into your s:whdload.prefs file (you may need to create this).

More info about the prefs file can be found here.. http://www.whdload.de/docs/en/opt.html

Yes that yellow FAQ at the top of the page does wonders!

Hope your DVD is going well synchro, it's great that you're putting time and dedication into this project for everyone to benefit. Sounds like you've really worked hard on this and I'm looking forward to a thread outlining the finished results.

Let's just hope you don't get losers selling your DVD on ebay like they seem to do with Gary's CD32 disks.

Don't know if you have visited already, but there are a few goodies available on the main abime page.

Loads of people seem to visit this board but not realise there is a main site as well.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Bloodwych !!!
I actually dont mind the WHD popup being there IN FACT!!! Maybe it should be there. After all im trying to get across whats available from this community and what can be done with Amiga Emulation.....And thier work does deserve some good solid credit !!!

I just thought they sent you the full proggy or sommin and wondered where i stood if i had my regged version on the dvd ????

But its no problem im happy to keep the popup....Its not the workbench side i was worried about really its making runnable HDF's where the popup may become tedious.....I got 50 standard runnable HDF's from Godflesh's ftp which are really fantastic and very stable and instant loading !!!
Adding that to the ones im making and have made its getting to be a lot of runnable games direct from the dvd
If anyone can help me find source for anymore that would be an great help !!!

As for selling all i can do is put a NOT FOR SALE.....FREELY DISTRIBUTABLE notice on the dvd somewhere and hope no one will buy it.......Or sell it for that matter

BTW.....Just checked out your link.....Fantastic thanks!!! Theres some really cool WB setups there that will look great

PLease, please, please don't distribute ANY WHDLoad keyfile. I know it's already clear but I want to say it again, because it would be a HUGE loss for the community.

I think you'd be standing in front of a judge if I had my way !

In the good old days many of us pirated on the Amiga, despite all the "Don't pirate, the Amiga will die" messages. Look what happened.

Before anyone accuses me of hypocrisy I don't care about the death of the PC.

I don't use WHDLoad much (and I am not registered) but distributing a full version of this program would make immediately negate anything good you are doing for the community with this DVD. In fact the tomatoes would continue to be thrown and you would be forever remembered as "the idiot who ruined WHDLoad" rather than "the guy who made this cool DVD".

Please listen to Uncle Akira

I've always wondered if a whdload keyfile has ever escaped into the wilderness.

If one did get leaked I'm pretty sure it'd be easy for Bert Jahn to stop the keyfile working in whdload (obviously not previous versions), I know I'd submit the keyfile to the whdload team if I found it on some random website somewhere.

I hope it never does happen (it hasn't yet has it?) though.

I know, I made them! You're very welcome to use any package on your DVD if you find any suitable. All I ask is that you add credits or whatever you feel appropriate.

There are some older keyfiles floating around, but it's not a good idea to try them, if WHDLoad detects a leaked keyfile, it will destroy your startup-sequence

Yes they have (escaped) and yes they've stopped later WHDload releases working with them. WinUAE might even purposefully crash with older pirate keyfiles and WHDload, but can't confirm that as 100% true.

Registering WHDload isn't much to ask, inexpensive and a one time commitment yet works freely for those who can't or won't so the current system works well.

Keyfiles have the name and the address of the registered person in them, probably a nickname and a fake address would also do but whatever, if we see a pirated one we can post the name of the "n00b" here har har!

I heard rumours that someone hijacked this thread and took it in a completely different direction!

Registered copy(ies) of WHDLoad

Is it necessary to have one registration number of WHDLoad per each installation ? I own several Amiga OS(ish) systems including classic Amiga.

No, you can just copy the keyfile onto each machine.

But if you want to support WHDLoad, buy several keys, each for one machine
