You'll regret it! I predict that your tent will blow away.

Tis a shame, I didn't realise until recently that the two clashed. What time does it run until on the sunday? I might be able to pop down then!

And here is my show report!

I drove to Croydon last Friday afternoon to meet up Antiriad, but I was about half an hour late because of the damn traffic on the M25 motorway. We then discovered that the hotel booked Antiriad for Saturday and Sunday night, instead of Friday and Saturday. We did find another hotel though, but they asked us if we wanted a double room (ahem) after I failed to make it clear that we only required a single as I was staying at my brother's place (which is also in Croydon).

The show was from 10am to 7pm on Saturday. We got set up early, but the Internet cabling didn't reach us until later in the day and then we couldn't get it working. So there was no access to the HOL from the show. The CD32 hard disk got corrupted at one point, which put it out of action for a while. Luckily Big Byte was there with floppy disks and an external drive, so we were able to sort it out. We had my brother's widescreen TV for the CD32 and lots of WHDLoad games - it proved a popular attraction. A PC also displayed APoV and was running WinUAE.

Sunday wasn't as busy, but we still met lots of people. The CAPS guys were close to us and I met GameBase64 and Retro Gamer magazine people too. The whole thing was quite tiring, but enjoyable. And for everything that went wrong something else went right, such as somebody rediscovering Xenon 2 or my car Shadowfax showing us the meaning of haste.

It was a good show and if there is one next year we'll do it again!

Nice. Yes, I certainly agree it was tiring! 3 days of going to bed @ ~9:30pm still has not completely sorted me out, but this is probably also to do with the food poisoning I got Sunday.

Anyway, nice to talk with you guys! It was a good show.

Yes, there is one next year: http://www.cgeuk.com

Only interesting thing I found within those pics is this:
http://www.ukretro.co.uk/cpstorefron.../retrobeep.jpg
What was the retrobeep stand about? Seems like dedicated to music creation with old computers? Can anybody inform me more about this?

[edit] maybe not, checked out the website and it doesn't seem like that

Also, who's this Matthew Smith guy? :P

Theres a pic of me riding around in a Sinclair C5 at the show. Ill post it here when I get it off Mort.

It was nice meeting up with some of the poeple on this board however the highlight for me was the Matthew Smith talk. Its clear that he blew all his first 30 grand he got for manic miner on drink and drugs as basically he was well fucked up! - I cant think of any other way to say it.

Good job he never got a penny for Jet Set Willy as he would have been dead by now if he had methinks.

@Akira

Retrobeep is a computer museum located in Bletchley Park, London. It contain (as well as other things) some of the first computers ever produced like Alan Turing's creations that decoded the Enigma encryption in World War II. They also have a stock of most other computers ever produced.

@Big Byte

Thanks for the contribution by the way! The dumps are still on my Amiga HD atm., but I will check them as soon as possible.

Yes it was damn tiring but fun. Lessons were learnt (like taking my A1200 instead of stupid CD32 for starters) so next year should be even better!

And i expect a better EAB turnout too next time round!!!

Actually, I thought it a good thing you bringing your CD32, I talked to some people who mentioned they were quite interested in it because they had never seen one before...

This is the only pic i can find. Were up at the top left, me on the left Cody on the right!

Next time well bring a camera. One to add to the list.

Thanks for that info Fiath. I think Ill bring both, perhaps just to run a sensi comp on the CD32 and the main games on the 1200.

Well that's just what I thought, and this esmilie -> best describes Matthew Smith's face on every bloody picture! So that's why I was wondering "who teh fuck is this guy, he's way deformed!".

How about making a remake of his game called "Manic Snorter", or maybe "Snort Set Matty"? :P
