Bootdisk for cd32 needed...

Not really sure where else to post this, but here's my problem:

I have a cd32 with an sx-1 expansion installed. This expansion has 8megs of Fast-Mem, and this often causes games to crash. I also have a floppy drive hooked up to the machine.

Is there a way I could make a bootdisk that would disable the fast-mem, switch the machine to PAL, then boot a cd like it was a standard cd32?

Wire a DPST switch to the RAM disable jumper (#3 closed=disabled) and toggle it to disable/enable the RAM.

That's a good idea.

However, I'd still like something that would put the machine in PAL instead of holding both mouse buttons down everytime. And I would rather not altar the hardware to make a disable switch if I can.

Well I think you can put a dispswitch to make the machine default to PAL but since you don't want to modify the hardware...

TUDE should do what you need. JUst make a bootable disk with TUDE in the startup-sequence.

Thanks, I'll check that program out.

As far as I know, there is no jumper setting on a CD32 or SX-1 for NTSC/PAL selection.

You can make a PAL/NTSC switch for the CD32 by grounding pin 41 of Alice. Problem is it's not true PAL (the colorburst signal is still NTSC), and will show as black and white on a PAL TV.

Jesus Christ don't do that, don't mess with the poor Alice ! Look out near the RF Modulator, you'll find the R203 resistor. Remove it. Solder two wires to the solder points. Then to the two pole switch.

Voilá, 50/60 Hz Switch. I've done it this way and it works beautifully. You can check what I've done on my web site at http://bragatto.net/cd32/switch
