I know Akira said it isn't Twintris, but that's the only one I found that looks a lot like the arcade version. I also found one called "Tetris III" that seems to be a demo/ripoff or something.

Every time I find a new disk with Tris in the title, I fire it up in hopes that it might be the Tris-mas gift ye seek. The last one I booted was called ProTris. The date was 1993, but oh well. A part of me will play any Tetris variant, so I look.

By the time I got it to work using an A1200 config it turned out to be one of those Workbench Tetris games. The booting process takes forever since it appears to load a bunch of Beavis and Butthead samples into memory while you wait. Which was a lot easier to digest than having to listen to those samples played non-stop through the game. If that show amused you, then this game will probably have the same effect since the show and the game:

- both feature an overdone formula
- both are inferior to contemporaries on the market
- both are as inane as the adolesent wankers they are aimed at

I played one round of 13 levels, then retired it (which is more time than I have devoted to the B&B tv series). Graphically, it just looks like a med-res 4-color WB2.04 (stock) with nothing but the ProTris screen on top like any WB game. How I survived hearing those sound bytes for 13 levels is anybody's guess.

The filename ProTris v1.0 (1993)(Mirage)[h Pazza] also intrigued me, since Mirage is in the (Company) field. Probably not to be confused with the Mirage that gave us such classics as Street Hassle, Magiczna Ksiega, Co Do Grosza, and the ever popular American Poker.

No pic because I didn't want to get a demerit N O CA$H FOR J00! from Akira.
That and the fact that Windows gave me a swapfile crash when I tried grabbing the final screen of my ProTris game.

N O CA$H FOR J00!

;D

I think that by the looks of things, this must be some mega-rare, argentinian game. The fact that it was a BRILLIANT conversion, makes it even more impressive (a GOOD argentinian AMIGA GAME? yer!)

So I think I'll have to start looking locally instead of around the world.

The CA$H prize is still available for anyone who finds it before me !

:hoo

me and a friend (oldskool amiga games guru) have spent the last half hour trying to crack down this tetris game you played.

"ok bro.. i'll tell you... but if you get a prize... you better share it ok?"

when he told me that i realized the bastard knew all along!

so here's what we've all been waiting for:
(after 14 years of suspense)

The TETRIS game as captured below is from a compilation disk titled:

TETRIS MANIA

unfortunatly i couldn't track the archive down. but here's proof of its existence. (also blockout is featured in the compilation)

PD Soft 3001 - 4550
... GAMES 4 ----- 3428 TERTRIS MANIA
----- 3429 BATTLEFORCE ...
www.amiga-stuff.com/pd/pdsoft.html - 101k - Cached - Similar pages

(my friend is 90% sure Tetris Mania is the correct title and Tertris could be a typo)

now that you got the bait! go catch that fish!

This is quite a bold statement me friend! I need proof of this now, and if it proves to be the game I've been looking for, you got a priz0r

How are you so sure the game looks almost exactly like that Atari Tetris arcade screenie?

Time to request

I don't want any money btw if it's the one. :-)

Thumbs down

well, what a complete waste of time that was.
Tetris Mania was the name of the compilation and the tetris game Akira mentioned was nowhere to be found on that disk.
That has to be one of the most long winded intros I have ever had to sit through.

good work Critter, next time maybe find one that has an even longer intro
