I have commercials, box scans and other stuff. Interested ? I can make some screenshots as well, but I don't have much games...

"FM" means "Fujitsu Multimedia", I guess. That "Towns" thing becomes clearer if you see the commercial.

Just got Microcosm for FM Towns. Here are some screenshots:

I'll make some more later.

I don't see what the big deal over this machine is. I tried out the emulator and their version of Shadow of the Beast, and I wasn't impressed. It had a few extras cutsequences that looked decent, but the sprites weren't that good, and there was no music.

The Towns was/is CD-based. The music was surely on the CD. If you've downloaded the game, I doubt that you've got a version with the music on.

I actually got my original of Microcosm on a couple of weeks ago. It's actually not half as bad as I remember. Brings back a lot of memories, it really does.

Yes, it was. And the music is rather good.

@th4t1guy: You cannot say that after playing only one game. The thing is, almost every FM Towns game was enhanced and is therefore unique.

I know this is late in the day, but being a nerd I feel my duty to reply

FM Towns sure has hentai....lots of it.

But really for gamers it is more about its library of arcade ports, the SEGA games on it were actually ported by CRI (owned by ex sega holding company CSK), and it also has uber versions of Muscle Bomber (Capcom), Splatterhouse (Namco ported by Ving), and Neo Geo ports of Samurai Shoddown & Viewpoint.....among lots of others.

Out of interest, does anyone know if the FM Town version of SOTB has the same AST as the PC Engine one??

Yeah that's what I meant thanks.

I was expecting something wonderful, it's good but I still rekon the original Amiga music owns it to death

btw, I'm going to make a website with legal downloads of FM-Towns games. However, I'm not sure how to get the permissions from the copyright holders. Can anyone give me some advice ?

Check out this link for an emulator and required files; there is also so useful information about the FM Towns and other Jap Systems.

Finding the games is a little trickier. Managed to get SOB working and Found Zak McKracken but cannot get the CD image to work. Everything else I've found is stupid Hentai stuff.

Great machine though!

Most of those images are bad or incomplete, so don't expect them to work... One reason why I want to make a website with legal downloads.

Great game, but unfortunately it's identical with the PC version.

I love the 3DO version. Best graphics I've seen for the game!

That's why I like the CD32 version, because of the graphics.

I heard that the 3DO version was the worst port, apart from the graphics possibly...

Well, don't expect to get any permissions from LucasArts. The old FM Towns ports of some of their games are absolutely brilliant yet almost impossible to find legal versions of. Of course LucasArts have no interest in re-releasing these versions, yet LucasArts is LucasArts. I guess y'all know what I mean

I know... It's a shame because I have good copies of almost all games from LucasArts.

But how can I get in contact with Psygnosis for example ?

I'd have thought the Mega CD with its exciting 64 colour display to be the worst version??

Mildly related........i see "Infestation" by Psygnosis is available on FM Towns/Marty........but requires a keyboard to play . How is the Amiga version of this game, i can't find it, and how vital is the keyboard for playing??
